Pretty much this. Yeah, I would enjoy getting a better look at the process as a Panthers fan but my #1 goal as a Panthers fan is to see my team win. I don't think the circus of Hard Knocks at all contributes to that #1 goal. In fact I think it works against it and that's why teams seek to avoid it. I'm honestly surprised the NFL hasn't gotten rid of it with all teams universally hating it but then again the same thing is true for Thursday Night Football, so yeah... all about the Benjamins.

Its because this is all a television show with production values and norms. The boom of behind the scenes footage has always been a big deal and this is reality tv that they don't have to script. There is levity, emotion, betrayal, tragedy, and triumph in an NFL team's offseason. They don't have to set up a day out with triggers to see a cast member's reaction. That is why there is such a boom with podcasts. Fans love to find out that Tim Duncan was a hilarious teammate from Tony Parker, or that Cam Newton was a stand out teammate who put team before self from Greg Olsen. Hard Knocks is compelling and it will be around for years to come like NFL films.
