A few other notable ones...

So apparently, Dalton threw a lot more over the middle but things did not go well. Goff is a machine over the middle.

My understanding of this is what happens when a QB faces a defense that effectively covers targets.

Probably an indication of being a one read guy if you're a lot more to the right. Not a good look for Lawrence.

How would anyone know who the first read is supposed to be?

By watching the tape and watching the QB and seeing where he looks first?

Seems kinda obvious on that one, no?  lol

And yes, I know sometimes QB's will look off a DB, but in general, you can tell who the first read was when watching the tape post game.

For those wondering, top left quadrant is where you want to be. Bryce cooked

How often QBs throw to tight windows and their throw open rate on those tight window throws.

So according to this chart, Dak Prescott's stats are inflated because his targets are always open and yet he still has the least percent of throwing them open? yeah, overrated

The explanation for that chart is below. I would always take data with a grain of salt but the implication is that guys like Mahomes and Jackson throw to tight windows less often and aren't as good actually throwing it away from coverage to give their guy a better shot.

Top left quadrant is not where you want your QB. This means they're not seeing the open receivers and throwing blindly to a point that is double or triple covered. Threading the needle is not what you want a QB to do regularly at this level. It's high risk and low reward as it will hurt a receivers YAC and increase the chance of interceptions/tip drills. This was Mac Jones territory last year. You won't see Mahomes, Jackson, and Goff in that quadrant.

Or maybe, just maybe, we have receivers who can't get open?
