Get Over The Clausen Drama

Kevin Greene

Recommended Posts

The Panthers didn't trade up to# 10 to draft a QB and they didn't trade away 2011's #1 Golden Egg.

Jimmy Clausen dropped to the Panthers at #48 and the FO at BOFA had the discipline to let him fall.

Here's the #2 QB in the draft expected to go High 1st round and we stole hime late 2nd round.

Good for us.

Matt Moore has shown he has potential as a QB in the NFL but Moore signing his one year tender for 3 million dollars is not a 5 year, 50 million dollar genuflection at the Matt Moore altar. It was simply the smart thing to do.

Now in the 3rd we get a WR in Brandon Lafell and in Armanti Edwards a ST threat and in addition our wildcard with Edwards, Williams and Stewart in the back field with Smitty, Lafell and Rosario on the edge should be quite interesting.

Great 1st, errrr 2nd day Panthers.

I'm still a bit buzzed but the more I think about this draft the more I'm loving it.

We just got a potential franchise QB with the 48th pick, a top receiver in the draft, and one of the best play makers next to CJ Spiller. We also have our 2011 first rounder!

Said elsewhere that I'd have been a lot more unhappy about it had it been followed by a run on good receivers. That didn't happen, so I can live with it.

Wouldn't have been my first choice, but I'm okay.

I think if a run on receivers had started, they would have jumped in and made a trade to get a good one (probably would have overpaid, but, hey, you do what you have to do). But since receivers kept falling, they just waited it out until they were able to pick one they liked.

Dan Connor is also penciled in to possibly start as well. Lately they've taken some necessary risks and it's paid off for the most part. They've only reached when they've had the luxury of doing so, and in turn it's allowed them to draft some Boom and Bust players.

This is the type of drafting you see when a Coach feels confident that they can coach up a player to their potential.
