Garrett Wilson eyeing Bryce Young

Another diva that’ll ruin the locker room if he’s not happy, and he’s never happy. Literally was complaining this year about not getting enough looks and he was 3rd in the league in targets at the time.

Hell no too giving up a top 10 pick. Anything lower we can talk.

I really think a second this year (Rams) and next years third could do it IF Rodgers comes back. If Rodgers leaves I think they make him untouchable.

just remember it’s the jets anything is possible

You have to spend your cap at some point and Wilson is a #1 and 24.  We would be very lucky to get him.  If we give 8 I want something additional back

Yes, but my point is for the same cap room we could have Burden and a legit starting pass rusher, I'm taking that over just Wilson every time.  Because anyone trading for Wilson is going to need to give him a Top 10 WR contract at the same time, and with today's WR market, that's A LOT of money for a position we could fill on a rookie contract in Burden.

It's allocation of resources, not being afraid of spending the cap.

If we were a #1 WR away from being legit contenders, like the Bills and Eagles with Diggs and Brown, then it's a different discussion, but we're not that.  We have so many holes right now, that filling one of the holes at the cost of being able to fill 2 of them for the same price, just isn't good roster management.

Also, all of that is disregarding that we likely wouldn't need to use the 8th on Burden anyways.  If he's who we really wanted (and T-Mac was already gone of course), we likely could trade back another 5-7 picks, still get him, but add another solid draft pick as well.

I do think 8 should be off the table, but on the flip side I can see the appeal of KNOWING you have WR1 locked up for the foreseeable future and being able to use the remaining draft fully on defense. With Burden or TMac you just don’t know for sure

Yes, but again, it's not an anti-Wilson thing, it's solely allocation of resources.

If the Jets were to be dumb enough to trade us Wilson for non 1st round picks, it totally changes my mind on going after him, but I really can't see any way they do that, he's too young and good for them to trade him for anything less than at least a 1st, which is something almost any contender who needs a WR would be willing to give them.

If we're trying to trade for a WR, I'd rather go after someone like DK Metcalf who is a few years older and likely could be had for less of draft capital because trading him would also free up cap room for Seattle.

How about this years 2nd + next years 2nd + XL.

If XL is being included, more like next year's 3rd, don't like going another year without a 2nd round pick.

But again, I'm not doing that if I'm the Jets as some contender would give them their 1st rounder for him in a heartbeat.  For example, if I'm the Chargers, I'm offering up my 1st this year and probably additional assets on top of that.

Herbert, Wilson, Ladd, and a Harbaugh offense would be downright scary.

Uh, no... if T-Mac is there at 8 and we trade that for Wilson and give him the contract, it would be the most inept move imaginable.

T-Mac > Wilson before T-Mac's 2nd season in the league is over.

Isn't he in his 3rd season? Wouldn't you have 2 more years of manageable salary with the 5th year option? If that's the case, then just a matter of draft picks. Gonna have to pay him, but not for another 2 seasons.

Yes

If we gonna draft tmac, might as well just give them the 8th straight up for for Wilson

    • Well, the site no longer sends  recovery emails---I know all too well---so maybe he'll just come back as an alt without any of his admin privileges...which explains why he hasn't responded to any of my posts on the issue. /End sarcasm
    • They can't afford to go FA for everything. This team will have to draft their way out of this mess and all future starters will have to come from the draft. Any starters signed in FA on a 2 year or less contract are only place holders for a draft pick. I get wanting a sure thing upgrade but he's on the wrong side of 25 by a mile.
    • Did a re watch of the highlights. Some takeaways. Koochie play well the whole game minus that last goal. Orlov and Burns are definitely on their last year as a cane. fug Orlovs plus minus.  His defense is so bad at times. Yesterday was one of them.  Burns is burnt. That was his worse game as a cane. Don’t care if he had a point. 5 bad turnovers and consistently lazy clears and bad defense. Aho is angry….angry aho is about to make some noise.  Necas played well, minus when he froze in front of Vasy.  Ty smith is a waste of a roster spot.  Svech failed to clear on that last goal that lead to the lightning leading. In fact the whole team took a dirt nap in those 30 seconds after dominating the 3rd.    canes played a tough game. They just can’t finish with the players on the roster.    blake is going to be a stud. He is flying around.     I personally think it’s going to come down to the last 5 games to determine if they make the playoffs. 500 hockey will be close. This team great then poor.
