Alright as I write this I already know that many of the comments will be (*** you Panthers8192), just give me a second and take a deep breath.

I am incredibly surprised with the Panthers selections, and at first was somewhat angry. But as time passed the decisions started to make more and more sense.

Clausen- Just when I thought Moore was our guy, right? Well think about it. Who thought Clausen would fall out of the first round? Past Cleveland? Past the Bills? I'll admit I completely botched this one. Now look what just fell to us. A guy who was a projected first rounder, great arm, and has the potential to be a Pro-Bowler. Easily the best talent available on the board. So what do you do? Do you pass on what could be the first legitimate 'franchise' qb when last season your problems derived from this position? You can't. The point of the draft is to take best talent available at positions you might need. We NEED qb depth and competition. No question about it. Not going to lie Moore might still be our guy, but at the very least we have another option in case he fails.

Lafaell- Easy. Great blocker. He replaces last years Moose with more speed, and more potential to have a great year. Adds depth and competition. At this point wide-recievers are a crapshoot, at least we know we are getting something from this guy (blocking, which is kind of necessary in a run-first offense)

Edwards: I had a feeling we'd take this guy, I just didn't know when. Why? Our offense was pretty awful last year. We lacked playmakers outside of runningback. This guy can play the wildcat better than anyone out there. Yeah we gave up a second for him, but a lot of people wanted to use a second on Pat White last year. Next years draft class won't be as talented, we still have our first, and as someone mentioned we will probably get a 3rd rounder for Peppers in compensation. Apparently someone else was going to pull the trigger on him, so the Panthers did what they had to do to get it done.

I was shocked/mad when we drafted J-Stewart (I thought we needed something else becaue we already had Williams), but after all was said done he was one of the best picks of the draft. I have faith in Hurney and Fox, heck their jobs are on the line, they wouldn't intentionally screw us.

Oh and finally plenty of you out there constantly whine about how 'conservative' the Panthers FO are. Well you got your wish, don't confuse your being surprised with anger. Sometimes change is a tough pill to swallow.

Seriously. Respect. My exact thoughts. Point for freakin' point (cept that whole Dark Knight thing)

It's been an exciting draft when everyone thought we'd have one heck of a boring one. Rather than bitching, I'm excited about what the Panthers have done. Next year will be an interesting one, without doubt.

Hmm... I wonder what they'll rate The Golden Calf of Bristol/Clausen/McCoy in Madden 11 as rookies.

i totally agree. i was upset with the first pick, but when i saw all those good receivers were falling farther than i could've ever imagined, i was stoked. we get what could potentially be a franchise qb and a solid receiver without a first round pick? oh no ... fox and hurney deserve an A rating on this one. edwards just adds another dimension to our offense where we already had weapons galore. and people are saying there's no way we're making the playoffs? that's pretty definitive, and i'll just say we'll see. great first half of the draft panthers front office. i think they deserve another year with the team just for that.

Sam Bradford: 80 overall

The Golden Calf of Bristol: 70 overall

Jimmy Clausen: 76 overall

Colt McCoy: 72 overall

Armanti Edwards: 60 overall, with 88 speed, 88 throw power and 84 throw on the run so he should be pretty fun in the wildcat on Madden.

By the way if you are wondering where I'm getting these numbers....http://maddennfl.easports.com/draft.action.....they are rating every player drafted as they are selected...

Badass! Thanks for the link. Sadly, I didn't buy Madden 10 last year. It was the first time in five years. I can't wait for Madden 11. A year without playing football is killing me.

No problem, Madden 10 wasn't terrible, especially when you look at what the development team had to undo from 09. It was certainly a step in the right direction and 11 looks pretty promising IMO. It even appears that they are adding Gus Johnson to the commentary and for those who know what he sounds like calling games thats a great thing. For what its worth NCAA looks pretty badass this year as well. They have done a full presentation makeover with ESPN overlays, apparently have taken Corso out of the commentary, made each team have a distinct playstyle and also the rumor is (it was also on gamestop's website till they changed the description) that there will finally be team specific entrances for NCAA. Should be a good year for both games IMO, and you cant forget about Backbreaker June 1. Even for a generic league game it looks absolutely sick!
