Clausen disscusion here

31 other teams had a chance at this supposed "franchise QB" (some had 2 or more shots), some with much worse QB situations than us, and passed. Clausen was bailed out all year long by Tate taking the ball away from defenders, through double teams and turning dump offs into huge gains. All of this against that weak ass schedule ND plays. Way too many holes on this team to use our first pick on a guy that apparently has some serious enough issues to free fall from his media hyped top 10 spot to the middle of the 2nd round.

I'm shocked. This is a good draft so far. Sometimes you have to take chances in the draft. Armanti in the 3rd is a reach, (he was projected 4-5th round pick) However he has the speed and ability to be a good-great WR and KR/PR.

Lafell has some of the biggest upside of any wr in the draft. Good pick in the 3rd there.

Clausen is the biggest steal of the draft by far. He's a legit top 5-10 draft pick and some say he's a top 10 NFL QB. He was drafted with the 48th overall pick that's about a +40 on rating vs actual spot picked.

Forget who was picked If you were told a week ago that the panthers would snag the 2nd rated QB in the draft with the 48th pick, a top 5-7 rated wr in the 3rd and a KR/PR with 4-3/4-4 speed that played WR. You'd have been ecstatic.

He was passed on because of his attitude, not his skill.

And his attitude isn't a huge problem.

I don't recall saying what the issues were, but apparently teams desperate for a QB thought the attitude was a big enough problem to pass on him, twice.

Right, if only we could draft with so much success as the braintrust in buffalo, oakland, and cleveland who have been very successful in the last 20 years. Oakland picked Jamarcus Russell first two years ago so that means they have an incredible eye for QB talent, right?

    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.

Bessingers or Melvin's BBQ sauce.  However Bessingers is the best in the world, Melvin is 2nd.    I found this article    In fact, the New York Times Magazine described the sauce as “terrifically balancing the tangs of mustard and vinegar with a wood fire's charry flavor.” While helping his dad, Joseph “Big Joe” Bessinger, as a teenager in the kitchen of the family's first restaurants, Thomas learned the secret recipe for the gold sauce – ... https://www.bessingersbbq.com › t...
