We have to go WR in the second, and we have to get a starter...

Agree.

Wish I were more confident that it was going to happen, but I've seen this team pull a lot of things I didn't get :(

If it's not a WR my tv is going out the window.

If it's a nice TV, send me your address via PM so I can wait under your window :)

Actually, there are a lot of people with similar feelings (me included).

yep. you can include me in that category. i know we need some depth on the defensive line, but we've had a glaring need at WR ever since the franchise even started, and i think this is the best year to get a WR or even two perhaps??? but we need a WR the most, hands down.

I think Smitty sees the writting on the wall as he hits 30. From conversations I have heard and read from him, this last contract was his big one and would give him financial freedom to do what he wants. He has a lot of interests in buisness and elsewhere so I doubt he hangs on like some guys because they have nothing else to do but football. He may renew his contract when it expires or walk away. Most players think they know what they will do until the time comes when they either follow through or do a Brett Favre. I do agree that he wants to be productive without having to be double and triple teamed all the time. Who wouldn't!!

In any event we definitely need a WR or 2 at this point. I have been saying we need a vet WR in FA and at least 2 in the draft. I hate to say it but that almost guarantees we don't take any receivers since the Panthers seem to do everything but what I think they need to do. I actually expect them to move up to take a QB in the 2nd. Then they will take a DB with their regular pick. I doubt that we take a receiver until later as much as I would disagree.

IMO we should be trying to give up a later or next year's pick for Osi, and then concentrate on WR now and quarterback in the 3rd or 4th. Pick up a DT in FA after the draft. On the other hand if Terrance Cody is still there at 48, it would be pretty tempting.

To be honest, the next five years, I want to enjoy playing. And I really haven't enjoyed playing because I had goals where I was like 'I want this', 'I want that.' And in the process, I kind of forgot that I'm playing my dream. So I just want to settle down and fade away in a good way, not in a bad way.

This is the writing on the wall... Smith is giving us a head's up... He ain't gonna be playing at his level much longer, and would like his last few years to be good years, where the pressure isn't squarely on his shoulders in the passing game...

Horse poo, no where their is Smitty saying he isn't going to continue playing with the same drive, passion and greatness he has shown so far his entire career.

Doesn't matter who we bring in at WR, Smitty will have a chip on his shoulder and show him who is #1.

He's just going to appreciate the moment a bit more.
