A look around the NFC South draft after round 1

The tape don't lie. I would be more likely to think Mccoy was a bust if he was drafted purely off combine numbers. I think he is going to be a good player for years to come. Weatherspoon will make a huge difference for the falcons. I think one of their huge weaknesses other than CB play was that you could get to the edges because of the lack of speed at linebacker. Weatherspoon isn't blazing, but he is fast enough and he tackles well. Robinson gets burned a lot, however if the Saints play like last year, they can afford a few mistakes because they are going for aggressive + turnovers rather than keep people out of the end-zone. I thought they would have moved up to address linebacker/safety position instead, but can't knock their pick.

there is talk of moving Malcolm Jenkins to safety...another possible reason for the pick.

I really think McCoy is going to bust.

I think he'll be an average to good player, but I don't think he'll be a Kris Jenkins or Warren Sapp type of player. If you take a DT that high, I think you expect them to be a perennial Pro Bowler, which I don't see happening with McCoy. So yes, I think he will be a "bust"

yeah, nothing that the NFC south teams did really scares me. although, the saints don't need much of anything to scare a team because of their ridiculous offense. and i also think mccoy will be a bust, so that one dude isn't the only one. some people have their own opinions, and i just happen to think the guy won't stand a chance against the panthers or falcons rushing attack. i personally think he's about as good as d. lewis was for the panthers. he'll put up decent numbers, but won't amount out to what scouts pegged him as coming out of college.

Tampa picking Gerald McCoy was obvious, they finally get a pick they can't screw up.

Atlanta getting Weathspoon made me mad, I was hoping they would choose a DE and Sean would drop to the Saints.

New Orleans getting Patrick Robinson was a surprise to many fans, but after thinking about it..made perfect sense. When Greer and Porter went down with injury we were down to Randall Gay and Malcolm Jenkins. Jenkins is probably moving to FS with the addition Robinson

I'm not up to date on Robinson, but I was sure they were going to get either Kindle or Mays, I am glad they didn't. I think they could have done better, seems like Robinson was a reach.

MARK it down McCoy will have a better career than SUH. Gerald was way more consistent than Suh over the course of his college career. Suh had monster games during big time games. Suh's frame is MAXED out. McCoy could add more bulk and upper body strength. Not only that he landed in Tampa and he is a PERFECT fit for what they want to do. As far as the picks of our rivals. I liked them they did a good job. Robinson is a raw coverage CB but he could become very good. The Falcons needed younger linebackers and they now have a leader. And McCoy is gonna be a beast.
