A look around the NFC South draft after round 1

Tampa picking Gerald McCoy was obvious, they finally get a pick they can't screw up.

Atlanta getting Weathspoon made me mad, I was hoping they would choose a DE and Sean would drop to the Saints.

New Orleans getting Patrick Robinson was a surprise to many fans, but after thinking about it..made perfect sense. When Greer and Porter went down with injury we were down to Randall Gay and Malcolm Jenkins. Jenkins is probably moving to FS with the addition Robinson

You would probably be the ONLY person to think that. Dude is a serious player.

The guy was a great college player yeah, but he's supposedly the best pass rushing DT in the draft, but Ndamakong Suh had almost as many sacks in 1 year as McCoy had in his career. McCoy is going to have some serious problems transitioning to the NFL because his technique isn't there right now. It's all lower body for him. His upper body isn't where it needs to be to be a dominant 3 technique tackle in the NFL as evidence by the fact he didn't even crack the top 12 in bench press reps at the combine.

I just think there's a pretty high bust potential for where he was drafted.

I was expecting the Taints to pick Sergio Kindle. I thought their need at LB was greater than DB.

I also agree with the hesitation about McCoy. There were LBs who lifted more than he did. If he has strength problems, he's going to be ineffective in the NFL. Good luck going up against most starting OT if you can't push a mountain. They'll just run to your side every down and over your flattened little body.

I think the CBs going down last year had something to do with it. CBs are invaluable. Dont think they want to have to pull Predator out of the stands again.
