Walker may be what we missed out on passing on Payton Wilson. So I’ll take it. We need a versatile linebacker about as badly as any other position.

Ideal offseason:

Draft Walker, trade 2nd and next years 1st for GW5 or DK.

Not saying they will have the same career. But just judging rookie seasons, Trevin Wallace and Payton Wilson have similar numbers with Wallace playing less games (i think). Though, I wouldn't hate us drafting Walker.

Side note: I haven't watched Payton play so this judgement is mainly based on stats.

Also, I do not approve of trading major assets like next years 1st + assets this year for GW or DK. That's a move (IMO) you make when you think you are in or near a super bowl window. We are no where close to that.

Maybe, but they were always going to be an impossible team to accurately mocked right now.

They have an absurd amount of cap room, what they need right now will not be what they need come draft day.  They can make multiple big splash signings and even make trades for players who need new contracts and their teams don't want to give it to them.

OT and WR might be their two biggest needs right now, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to think they could go into the draft needing neither of them.  I think a LT will be their top FA priority, also think they're going to make a big offer to Higgins, and I could see them being a team in the running to trade for someone like DK Metcalf as they need a WR like him and they have the cap space to give him a big new contract.

I know that Metcalf wasn't too happy with the way they were playing him this year. Going to NE wouldn't be too far fetched.

Honestly I'd rather Morgan pull a Hurney and take a linebacker. Walker or Jihaad Campbell. I think the line can be fixed...our linebackers were atrocious this year however. The league is trending towards the running game again and we don't have a chance if we don't have linebackers that can stop the run.

Does Hurney have a job? He should consult Morgan on the 1st round pick and that pick only. Hurney was incredible at eying all-pro talent in the first, but thats about all he could do

Still believe this?

Yes, there's plenty of examples of guys with his physical skill set rising up draft boards and in a weak QB class I'm sure if he declares he'd still be a top 3 pick.

The Titians seem like a lock to take Cam Ward at 1 then you have the Browns at 2 who could take a QB themselves, but I bet the Raiders try their hardest to get up to that spot to take Sanders. Then you have the Giants at 3 who have the biggest QB need in the NFL.

    • Seriously, everyone had a right to criticize Bryce and they have a right to be skeptical now--his positive sample size is small.  But I agree that he showed us enough to change our approach to QB in 2025.  And Daniels points out how well he was reading the defense.  Hats off to the OL, and especially Cade Mays who stepped in at C and improved us.  Coker who is going to be fun to watch in 2025 because he was just getting started-great hands, nice size, and a gamer.  Add a WR or two and maybe a TE and this offense is going to be way groovy.
    • With his injury history, he's definitely someone you have to consider letting play out his tag if his agent is being unreasonable. You can't pay him top tier corner money and hope he can actually stay healthy for 4-5 years. The reality is, we can afford to retag him next year if he has another strong, healthy year and leverage that into a new contract in 2026. At least then, if he's proven two consecutive elite, healthy seasons, you don't really worry as much with paying top tier money. I have to think Horn also realizes if he is injured again next year, he loses his chance of ever seeing a big 2nd contract. If we push the guarantees, maybe he lives with sacrificing $20 million or so to ensure he is set up for life. Would you take 5 years, $85 million with $60 mil guaranteed now, or play on the tag next year, pray you don't get injured and hope for a 5 year, $110 million, $80 mil guaranteed next year vs possibility of getting injured and having to settle for a 1 year $10 million prove it 2nd contract. I'm sure that's where the discussions are going to be.
