But you see our d line is fine it's just not proven I'd like dunlap for a de but if we did go after mays you could do some killer blitz schem and cover 2 scheme plus we look like we try to build a fast swam to the ball d and this would put us over the edge

As much as having two OLB's with 4-4 speed pumps me up, I don't think so. The panthers have way too many other needs to take him in the second.

I wouldn't mind if Davis was more of a natural strong side LB.

Having two safeties at OLB might be a bit too much speed and not enough size. Sure would be fun to try out though.

If we did that we would be freaking STUPID. Let freakin James Anderson and Dan Connor play...they were damn 3rd round draft picks. Why the hell even draft guys after the 2nd round if you aren't going to let them play.

Common mis-perception is that t-dav came out of college as a safety... No he was a linebacker, but at the time we had a need at the safety spot and he had the speed to fill it. So we played him there for a while and let him develope his skills before we moved him back to his natural position at linebacker.

Taylor Mays is a safety who has the size of a linebacker... Question is, is he tough enough to play the position? I don't think he is. I think Dan Connor has the toughness and the knowlege to beat out Mays all day even without Mays' athletisism.

It would take a few years to develop Mays into a competent LB... took Davis a little while and he had some experience at the position in college.

that's what most people haven't realized about the panthers though... they don't draft for needs. yeah, they're aware of their needs, but they always take the BPA... especially this year when they have nothing to bargain with, except for next year's picks. with that being said, i still think they take either a DT or WR with their first pick. not because they are of need, but because those are the best players available in the middle of the 2nd round. or perhaps a LB.
