Panthers Second Round Pick # 48 JIMMY CLAUSEN

When the college season ended and Clausen entered the NFL draft everyone wanted him but knew hands down we didn't have a chance for him. Now through the luck of the Draft Gods he fell in our lap. We didn't have to trade up for him, trade next years picks or any of our running backs. He fell to us.

Yes we needed a WR and DT but how can you pass on a possible FRANCHISE QB. in the second round.

I am happy with it.

You guys should thank Todd McShay for single handedly jaw jacking Clausen out of the first round. I think he's a no-brainer with the 48th pick.

I know that last night, Clausen probably wanted to punch McShay for costing him major $$$, but I think he knows how lucky he is to have landed with Carolina. Great city, fantastic part of the country, Stable franchise, great running game and offensive line. I'm sure he's fired up that he doesn't have to go commit career suicide in Cleveland, Buffalo or Oakland.

For carolina, its like picking up a Lexus for the price of a Camry.

For Clausen, its like finally having a real chance to win something.

I nearly shat a chicken when I found out we got Claussen in the second rd. it is a real win-win, franchise caliber QB doesn't have the pressure of being thrown to the wolves off the bat, and didn't have to give up anything for him, finally a bone thrown our way

Very happy with Clausen being our pick and him falling to us. You have a potential franchise qb in the 2nd round without having to give up anything for him. Having 2 young potential franchise qbs is never a problem with the running game we have going. Whether he wins the job or Moore they are both in good situations with our o-line and running game as long as they don't turn it over a lot. We're set up well for a Roethlisberger, Sanchez, fit into a strong team situation. Clausen falling to us is already set up to be more successful than McCoy or Bradford just because of who will be around him.

I feel very conflicted with this pick. Clausen has always been the top QB for me in this draft. He has all the tools to succeed in the NFL. The only problem I have with him, or should I say the only QUESTION I have with him is his maturity and leadership skills. Though his interviews have been quite impressive of late.

This is a young team that's only getting younger. We need some new leaders to add some cohesiveness to the locker room. Moore has proven that we should at least give him a chance to start. Heck, I've heard that we cut Jake because we didn't want guys like Smitty and Gross to choose between Jake or Moore. This really doesn't help.

I feel very, very conflicted indeed.

I think his leadership questions were answered his last year in school. I mean sure the 6-6 record isnt the greatest. But, that team would have been 2-10 without him. ND fan here, so Panthers became a new fav team to me. But, every game minus 2 (nevada, washington st) came down to literally the last drive or play of the game. The kid plays his butt off.

You want to see the kids hearts, and leadership....the week before was when he had his injury, and hadnt played a snap since the 1st quarter. comes back with 3mins to go in the 4th. I know its youtube video, but this is what you got. a kid who never quits and makes big time throws. the 3rd and 14...nfl ready, and those who say he doesnt have zip or accuracy..please.

I understand the mixed opinion about Jimmy but here the thing... I watched a lot of ND games the past two seasons, the kid can throw.... he doesn't make bad decisions and he always put the ball in position for his reciever to make a play on it... And truthfully I kinda want him to come in compete and win the job for two reasons 1: Like it or not he's the QB of the future for us unless we have a terrible season (2-14 or 4-12) and Fox is fired and we get a new coach who wants "his" guy under center..... 2: Playing Jimmy as a rookie forces the dumbass OC to stick to running the ball... i repeat RUNNING THE BALL... Too many time last year I saw freakin playaction on early downs and Jake forcing the ball to Smitty... So i figure if we are gonna start him we can a least take most of the burden off of him and our running game is at least top 5 in the league, that means even when they know what we gonna do we can still do it... So as far as JC goes im excited about....

Hell what yall should really be mad at is us trading for Armanti Edwards when proven recievers (Taylor Price, Carlton Mitchell) where still there... WTF was that?

The only thing that I can't seem to get rid of is this nagging sensatation that Moore is going to be the new Brees. No I am not comparing there game but there situation. Great QB plays well but the FO never seem to be fully committed to. They draft a QB who looks good and so they let him get out and he goes and turns a team of historic losers to Super Bowl champs.

Not to mention wasn't one of the main reasons for cutting Jake, that they didn't want to split the locker room. Well what the hell do they expect to happen if Moore struggles with the elephant (talent, our 1st overall pick, and was supposed to be a top 10 selection) in the room that is Clausen?
