What do you think will happen? Or was that an attempt at a funny?

If the biggest "knock" on the guy is that he's religious, then I'll take him any day over your DUI/Rapist/Gun-toting everyday NFLer every single time.

I dunno about that.........that OJ could run the d*mn football......

The pick was definitely a big gamble, but here's how I see it: Josh McDaniels now has himself a supremely talented and athletic player who is extremely coachable that he can now totally strip down and rebuild as he sees fit, and he has a stop gap in Orton & Quinn to hold court until The Golden Calf of Bristol is ready, which will not be this year. I bet he doesn't see the field this season unless it's the final couple/few games of the season and Denver is far out of the playoff hunt.

But, yes, big gamble and time will tell whether it pays off or if it was a total waste.

I think them picking him up in the 1st round was a gamble.

But trading UP a handful of spots by dumping most of your other picks in the draft?

That's just stupid. He's not worth the price they paid.

The Broncos made 4 trades in the First Round, dropping down and moving up.

San Francisco 49ers: Acquire No. 11 pick in 2010

Denver Broncos: Acquire picks No. 13 and 113 in 2010

------------------------

Philadelphia Eagles: Acquire pick No. 13 in 2010

Denver Broncos: Acquire picks No. 24, 70 and 87 in 2010

------------------------

Denver Broncos: Acquire pick No. 22 in 2010

New England Patriots: Acquire picks No. 24 and 113 in 2010

------------------------

Denver Broncos: Acquire pick No. 25 in 2010

Baltimore Ravens: Acquire picks No. 43, 70 and 114 in 2010

The last 1 was the The Golden Calf of Bristol trade. McDaniels obviously wanted the guy, so I think it's far too early to say "he's not worth the price" they paid of the 43rd, 70th and 114th pics (2nd round,3rd round and 4th round picks)

You're forgetting they used their 1st round pick to move up. So they actually used their 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks for ONE guy.

A guy, while admittedly having good character, has questionable mechanics, and has been characterized as a potential dud in the NFL.

It's just stupid to sell 4 potential players for a guy who's such a question mark.

I have no problem with them wanting him as a "high character guy", but I just don't get why they gave up so much for a guy who, even if he does play, it won't be for at least a couple years while he rebuilds his Dan Quisenberry wind-up and release.

Dude is definitely a project at QB. I love high character guys too, but if Jesus himself came to town, I would follow him, but I wouldn't draft him in the first round to play QB.

No they didn't. They used a 2nd (the 2010 BMarsh pick), a 3rd (from Philadelphia's move up in the 1st round), and their native 4th. Their 1st rounder they used on Thomas (pick 22).

In truth, they used only one native pick for the guy and created the rest through trades. If McDaniels is convinced that this guy is the future, it's not that much to pay, actually.

As such, they parlayed the 11th pick in the draft and Brandon Marshall into two WRs, a QB, and a 2011 2nd rounder. At least McDaniels does what he believes.

In an ideal world, wouldn't most people want their future QB to carry a clipboard for a couple years?

In the end, this draft can only be judged in 3-5 years. At least he won't be caught raping some gal in the bathroom in the meantime.

Ugh. I think I just agreed with Dimbee. What's happening to me?

Someone on another board asked...will The Golden Calf of Bristol throw for more touchdowns than Jamarcus Russell over their career?

hahaha thats actually a really great question. The funny part is what if we really could morph people, Tebows athleticism, character (as much as people bash him about it, I'd rather have Conservative-Christian over pistol in sweatpants), and desire with Jamarcus' arm. Wow

But I have no doubt The Golden Calf of Bristol throw more touchdowns because a lot of time the best quaterbacks are the ones who put the most time into their job: Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Brady etc, The Golden Calf of Bristol can do that. Also he is has Brandon ...... oh wait never mind.

Jamarcus Russell is officially 300 pounds. They were happy when he was 275 pounds and now that he's 300 I guess they are just planning to move him on the O-Line to block. That way he's not a total waste, lol. Ryan Leaf is like "Thank you, now I am officially not the biggest bust in NFL draft history".

Guess it will depend on what he does after those three years.....I just agree with Dimbee that it was a big gamble that could pay off or be a total waste. In the day and age of so many high profile players having no work ethic and getting suspended for sucking at life, at least you know neither one of those things will be an issue.

Maybe....or maybe not.

The Golden Calf of Bristol is the most polarizing figure I have seen enter the NFL in a LONG time.

Many seem to love him, others seem to hate him.

I don't feel any way right now, since he hasn't taken a snap in the NFL yet.

I will say I am glad the Bears didn't take him, even in the 3rd round, because I personally believe he isn't very good at QB.

As to the "won't get suspended for sucking at life".....well, he better hope so.

And this isn't really his fault, but he has positioned himself as a serious Jeebuz guy, and those type of guys have to walk a very careful line, because if they happen to run afoul of a giant bag of blow or a cadre of Thai hookers....he is gonna hear about it FOR-EVER. And let's face it, nobody can be perfect.

Ask Tiger.

If he follows the Kurt Warner playbook, he'll be in good shape.

If he follows the path of a particular NFL player that right before a Superbowl appearance was out spreading the good news on press row, and then that night got popped with a hooker and missed the big show....well.....
