Canales first big mistake. 

Tying your reputation to historically the worst defense ever is a real gamble. Can't blame defense next season when you had the opportunity to do something about it. 

Looks like we are committing to the 3-4 though.

I agree.  The 3-4 / 3-3-5 just doesn't work for us and our personnel.

Maybe ( I hope!! )  they take a big step forward with another year of defensive personnel additions.

Nah thats just coachspeak for now.  Wait until the interviews happen and then DC can say hey we really wanted to keep him but he wanted to go somewhere else

But he didn't beat around the bush. 

He literally stated 2x "Evero will be our defensive coordinator next season"

I would bet thats a foregone conclusion at this point.  They didnt want to straight fire him for a variety of reasons

Given that we held him hostage this year I dont think they are going to fire him and besmirch his rep

I understand why people are frustrated, but I think this is an okay decision.  Put all your focus on improving the talent on this defense, give Evero another chance to do his thing.

I think you are right. This is to calm down concerns about wholesale changes. Let's see what shakes out when interviews start and lets see if Evero draws interest. I hope he does.

Last season we did not have an NFL roster on either side of the ball. We fixed offense. We did not address defense, and then our best player on that side of the ball got hurt. 

I feel like we can trust Evero's body of work. He didn't forget everything he knew. He was calling plays for XFL guys competing against NFL players.
