Starting off with a couple of no brainers (Bears requesting both Lions coordinators)

Jets, Bears and Saints have also asked about Glenn.

Expect the Lions coordinators to be popular; have seen some speculation that Aaron Glenn might be a good choice for the Saints...

More about Johnson...

THe mention of wanting "alignment" with the front office could mean a couple of things. He might have someone from Detroit he's hoping to take with him. If so, he could be looking for a team that's doing a full house cleaning (but not the Jets).

In light of the rumor that he wanted to go to Jacksonville, it's worth pointing out that at least for now the jaguars have retained GM Trent Baalke (heaven only knows why) but owner Shad Khan has stated that the next head coach will report directly to him.

Is that "alignment"? 🤔

Poles calls Lions OC Ben Johnson a "brilliant play caller" but says that what the Bears need is a "leader of men".

May very well just be posturing, but it could be that's the profile of what the Bears want in a head coach.

I think it's more posturing towards the Bears fan base because he knows Johnson would be a long shot to take the job but it's who the fan base likely wants to pair with Williams.

It's his way of making it look like they're turning him down as opposed to him turning them down.

I think he'll consider the Jags and Patriots because of their QB situation, but I said it in a thread the other day, I very well could see him stay in Detroit for one last season to try and get hired by whoever has the #1 pick next year so he gets Manning as his QB.

Not the world's biggest Trevor Lawrence fan but if I'm choosing between him and Caleb Williams... 😕

The Bears offensive weapons would be really appealing, but I think when you combine the awfulness of that franchise over the years and how good the rest of that division is looking for at least the next 5 years or so, it just wouldn't be the job I'd take if I was Johnson.

Sure the Patriots have to deal with the Bills, but the NFC North has the Lions on the same level and then the Packers and Vikings are certainly better than the Dolphins and Jets right now and over the next few years.

Chicago has long been where quarterbacks and offensive coaches go to die.

Johnson is absolutely the guy I'd want if I was the Bears but I'm not sure I'd want the Bears if I'm Johnson. It all boils down to what he thinks of Caleb Williams. No questioning the WR talent and everyone knows they need to address the OL no matter what.

If I had to choose between the Bears and the Pats, that's a no brainer. The Bears have a roster built to win. New England is pretty far away from that.

Also, do I want a team that stuck with a bum like Eberflus too long or fired a hand picked New England guy after one year?

    • anyone who has watched the progress that Bryce has made this season and not be excited is just afraid to hope. at the start of this season most everyone said this season would be considered a success if we could win 4 or 5 games (checked) and see progress from Bryce (checked) and the team as a whole (checked). This was a fantastic season. I believe in our GM, our coach and much to my surprise our QB.  WE have a long way to go but I can see the path finally. Bryce may be a game manager, and he is but I think he's also a winner. He has that "it" factor. He's shown it already. It was just his second season and first with Canales who seems to have the "it" factor too. Are they there now? No. Have they shown me that they can be? Hell yes.  The offense looks good. Now, I totally expect them to improve the defense. Does that make us a good team? not yet but I can see it coming. The long lost and talked about culture finally showed itself this season. I think these Panthers are on their way to becoming a good team. Best season in 10 years.  To beat Atlanta at home and to eliminate their playoff hopes at the same time is something we haven't seen in a very long time. Anyone who can't appreciate that is just looking for  a reason to be sad
    • I met him in Palo Alto as the team (McCaffery was one) boarded the bus to go to the airport to play Colorado.  He was monitoring the bus loading.  I spoke to him--a kind, incredible human being.  He will be a great coach.
