Leonard Nimoy has announced plans to beam himself out of showbiz.

"Countless times, I thought it was done," the 79-year-old actor tells the 'Toronto Sun'.

"I want to get off the stage. Also, I don’t think it would be fair to Zachary Quinto," referring to the actor who portrayed a young Spock in the 'Star Trek' reboot. "He’s a terrific actor, he looks the part, and it’s time to give him some space. And I’m very flattered the character will continue."

---

In other words, don’t expect to see Nimoy in the 'Star Trek' sequel, scheduled for 2012.

He just also wrapped up filming his final appearance as enigmatic genius Dr. William Bell on 'Fringe'.

Live long and prosper Mr. Nimoy...

To be honest, I'm not surprised. He looked very, very aged in the last ST movie and in interviews I've seen (it looked like he had some bad cataracts).

He has looked that way for 20 years...

Glad to see I was able to use this so quickly.
