Official Draft Day Thread

Winners losers and meh from day 1.

Winners

Seattle.

Okung fell to them at 6 and filled a major need for them plus they grabbed what some experts think to be the best Safety in the draft at 14 with Earl Thomas. Both players will start day 1 and shore up major needs for the Seahawks.

San Francisco

Solidified the Oline with two solid picks in the first round in Davis and Iupati, with the type of offense that SF runs, they will help pave the way for Gore and co next season and beyond. Davis could end up being the best OT taken in the draft as he has major upside and a great deal of Athleticism.

Detroit

Suh fell to them at the second spot and will make a major impact from the start. Should be the DROY next season. The Jahvid Best pick was solid pick at a need position, and as a bonus they didn't give up a lot to go get him.

Dallas.

Moved up in the first to take the Best WR prospect in the draft and what many thought was a top 5-10 talent at the 24th pick. They get a great talent and won't have to pay him major money. Win - win situation for the Cowboys.

Meh -

Chargers -

Solid pick in what some where thinking was the best overall back in the draft in Mathews. I think they could have gotten him later on in the draft and they definitely gave up to much to go get him.

Losers -

Bronco's - They played the draft smart, just took the wrong players with the picks.

Thomas is a reach at best with the 22nd spot and what makes it worse is that Bryant was still there when they picked. Also giving up a 2nd, 3rd and 4th for The Golden Calf of Bristol......What was McDaniels thinking with that pick? With Clausen still on the board, the The Golden Calf of Bristol pick doesn't make any sense at all.

Jaguars -

Tyson Alualu is a good player, however he isn't a top 10 talent or pick and thats what the Jaguars made him. Way to much of a reach for him as he was expected to be a late first or early second round pick.

These were in no particular order in the given sections.

Hard to say that the Chargers reached much. Matthews certainly wouldn't have been there when they picked, they got a day one starter in the middle of the first, and they made themselves a ton better.

Yes, he probably would have been there at 15, maybe even 16. But there's no telling whether they could have gotten a trade later.

Updated list...

I'll make one thing clear though... I don't want to see Clausen in a Panthers uniform...

I really hope he is off the board pretty fast tonight... along with Colt McCoy...
