Steelers have begun contacting teams to trade Ben

I would do it. Big Bens a damn fine QB. And I'm a Panthers football fan, and the Panthers are in the business of winning football games.

If I'm a partner in a law-firm and have the option to pick up the best defense attorney in the country, I'm gonna do it. Even if he got child killers and rapists out of jail who were obviously guilty. Why? Because even though he's morally reprehensible, in the business of winning cases, he's the best.

we are in cash saving mode, we don't want is over inflated contract on our budget. he is a very good average QB, he is not great, but he is good.

I disagree. I can forgive a lot of things. Robbery, steroid use, drug use....I can accept a player coming back from after they've cleaned themselves up. A rapist? Um...no.

What kind of message would that send if fans can't take their shirts off in the stands, but the team actively seeks out a rapist to come play for them?

And Matt Moore Isn't a Damn Fine QB???

I don't know for a fact if he is or isn't... it just seems like a mistake to give up something for what you may allready have. I just wish we could let Moore get the the season before all the QB talk.

They are saying that his current contract was paid with upfront cash and that he would be a huge value. The receiving team would pay less for Ben than they would for a 1st round draft pick.......

And if this deal happens within the next 30 hours, these picks would likely be ammo in a deal to move up to 1. Sam Bradford is the Steelers end game in all of this.

I am not so sure, but maybe.

My opinion is they move him to the Raiders, get Bush in addition to their 1 this year. Take a stud Tackle, send their 2 and this years 3 to someone to move back up, and get a MLB or WR that they have their eyes on.

Let that D go nuts, and let Bush and Byron win some games for them.

You don't have to be a super star at QB to win games in Pitt, just take care of the football.

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to see what Moore can do for us. Hopefully he shines and gets a franchise Qb type deal next year and is our QB for a long time. But if Ben could be had cheap, I'd be all for that too. To put Moore in the same league as Big Ben (purely at this stage of his career, not potential) is just homer-vision. I understand the repercussions of signing Ben right now too, and from a business standpoint (sponsorships and advertising), his behavior must be taken into consideration also.

And Sam Bradford got sacked like twice in college (/sarcasm) and got hurt already. If Pittsburgh gets him they better get A LOT of o-line help in the Ben trade, or that guy will be dead or at least wayyy shell-shocked ala David Carr.

I hope you aren't being serious. Thank god you aren't a partner in a law-firm or in charge of the Panthers.

Going Leftwich would just be like the Steelers with Brister, O'Donnell, Stewart, and Maddox all over again. I think PIT would prefer a franchise guy (or one with that potential) back there.

    • He doesn't need to play in 2025. And maybe not 2026 either from what I've read. This is but one peer-reviewed selection:    "A devastating complication of returning to sport following ACL reconstruction (ACLR) is a second ACL injury. Strong evidence now indicates that younger, more active athletes are at particularly high risk for a second ACL injury and this risk is greatest within the first two years following ACLR." https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5226931/     Regarding your first question... "The optimal timing of ACLR is an important clinical decision that affects patient outcomes significantly. Even though there is no consensus in the literature, there are some trends regarding timing of ACLR. Various authors suggest that ACLR be performed at least 3 weeks after injury in order to avoid arthrofibrosis. More important than time alone, objective criteria including perioperative swelling, edema, hyperthermia, and ROM are important indicators of when surgery should be performed." https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4004131/#:~:text=The optimal timing of ACLR is an important clinical decision,in order to avoid arthrofibrosis.
    • Not sure I would be so sure they feel worse than us - their QB was better than Bryce at in the first season, they got DJ Moore, and 2 more high caliber draft picks.  We had to give up basically our entire defense this season indirectly to make that happen and we still have no true #1 WR.  Not saying I would rather have Caleb over Bryce at this point - but I would rather have their team situation and draft picks hands down.
    • A lot of people think this draft is weak at QB--I think, after the first five picks of the first round, there are a ton of developmental QBs who could develop into the role--here is the psychology behind it--Bryce becomes the mentor--you can learn as much by teaching others than by being taught.   It also makes him a true leader.  But I think there are a few QB in this draft that might not be ready now, but in 2 years, could be NFL starting QBs--Howard, Rourke, Ewers, Milroe, Dart, etc.  Talk about a cheaper backup and one that could evolve into trade capital--or if Bryce can't find consistency-his replacement.  Round 3 will have some of these qbs--maybe early day 3.
