Jason heyward, right fielder, atlanta braves

the panthers shocked the football world friday by using their first draft pick on braves right field rookie phenomenon jason alias heyward. The 20 year old native of henry county, georgia, entered friday with a .304 batting average, 6 home runs, and 22 rbis, fresh off an amazing 4 rbi performance against roy halladay.

"he's a guy, we uh, think can uh, come in and contribute, right away," said coach john fox. "we took a look at the tape, and uh, the kid is gifted, really gifted. Couldn't pass on him."

"what position is he going to play? Well, we'll wait for him to get to camp," marty hurney responded. When asked if he'll play wide receiver, hurney responded, "yeah, probably."

it was a stunning selection for a team with serious needs at wr and dt, even more so with The Golden Calf of Bristol still on the board. When interviewed, The Golden Calf of Bristol quickly sent away all the altar boys that were around him and said, "he's a great player. Great guy. Great hitter. Hope i don't have to face him." tim then went on to play with his collection of child sized shoes.

Heyward isn't the first atlanta brave to play in the nfl. Deion sanders was the most famous to do it, playing a mediocre left field for atlanta while being trucked by anyone he cared to tackle. However, heyward is a more physical presence.

At 6'5 and 250 pounds of pure glistening muscle, heyward is still growing into his body. One scout said of his frame "kid is swole as f***." another said he will be "built like a brick sh*t house in a couple of years."

fox and hurney were both non committal about when their second round pick would show up to training camp. "i mean, he's playing baseball, right? When does that get over with?" fox asked.

"he has plus speed in baseball terms, so i guess that comes out to like a 4.7 forty time. That's not exactly the ideal time we'd want to put across steve smith, but at 6'5 250, who cares?"

there might be some overlap between the start of the regular season, with heyward needing to play well into october for the atlanta braves. Heyward didn't seem too concerned. On baseball tonight, after doubling in three runs, he simply shrugged and said "yeah, i can do that. No thang."

when asked how he never got around to playing football, having grown up in georgia, heyward shrugged and said "i wanted a challenge when i got in the nfl. You know, just a hobby."

phillies fans were seen committing mass suicide outside of the draft building, knowing eventually they'd have to lose to this kid, much like they found out on tuesday and wednesday.

      100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.

Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
