You can’t be serious CRA. The 03 defense is an all time defense. Bryce Young on the 08 squad takes them to the Super Bowl. Delhomme had a legitimate two year stretch as a standout QB. But he never really had it between the ears. He just had the arm talent to force throws he had no business making.

I’m not comparing their teams. I didn’t bring them up.  I didn’t bring Jake up.  I responded to someone claiming Bryce Young has already out clutched Jake Delhomme….

so you think Bryce Young has already outlclutched Jake Delhomme Charlotte?????.  Bryce in 28 starts trails Jake’s 2003 season alone in GW drives.  What’s the argument  Bryce had out clutched him then? That’s the convo.

the Bryce folks just get silly with it.  And when you point out they go too far you are hating lol

Yeah man I would make that argument. Had our defense been anything other than trash Bryce would’ve delivered W’s against TB, Philly, KC and put us in the playoffs. He’s delivering inspite of the team like Cam did.

The thing is, we can make up all the what-ifs we want. Ultimately, Jake is one of the clutchest Panthers of all time. Bryce is NOT in that category yet - he just hasn't earned it.  Since the benching, he's 4-6, so yeah.

I do think Bryce is crazy clutch and I'm really excited to see how he develops next year. Never thought he could do what he's doing honestly.

4-6 since Bryce came back, should have been at least 5-5 or even 6-4 if not for a couple of plays.  (Chuba fumble vs TB,  XL drop vs Eagles). The positive momentum despite historically bad defense is undeniable

That goes both ways. Carolina should have lost vs the Cardinals and today if not for Kyler and Atlanta's kicker and defense, and the Saints and Giants games were both FG margins as well, and those games were not high scoring.

Last year and earlier this year can't be ignored completely - it doesn't work that way for such a drastic shift and small sample size. However, there is a definite trend of notable improvement and scoring in recent weeks and IMO Bryce and the offense coming out strong next season can carry a lot of weight toward that trend being permanent.

Gotta agree with this. Delhomme was ridiculously clutch, and should have been wearing a superbowl ring had the defense come play.

I don’t buy that at all. Jake had the benefit of one of the best front 4s and the best WR of all time bailing him out.

Bryce’s receiver group has never come close to Steve Smith, Muhammad, Ricky P, etc.

Delhomme was in the right place at the right time. But he was a flawed player that couldn’t play the game when he couldn’t force the throws he used to.

Smitty wasn't Smitty when Jake took over, and while he benefited tremendously from a great defense, we haven't seen Bryce in any of the situations we saw Jake. All the hypotheticals in the world don't change the fact that Jake had 7 game winning drives in one season and took a team that had finished last in the NFC South to within a drive of winning the Super Bowl.

I'm excited about Bryce and hopefully a better D will lead to the kind of results you think they will, but that just hasn't happened yet and I just don't get the need to stretch a good 10 games from Bryce to being one of the Panthers all-time greats.

Why do we keep talking about defense? if anything the defense helped bryces statline today with turnovers and good field position.  The defense has been bad this year but if it's one thing for sure they have played better compared to win dalton was in. Every score was 80 plus yards with Dalton, they have sucked but they also helped out bryce and the offense plenty of times to setup easier scoring drives.

Smitty was definitely Smitty when Jake took over. He took the triple crown after sitting out what would be his sophomore campaign with a broken leg as a starter.

Steve Smith is a top 5 WR of all time and Muhammad is probably in the top 30.You have to be kidding yourself to think Bryce doesn’t destroy Jake in the same circumstances. He’s smarter and more mobile. Maybe just maybe Jake can force a throw that Bryce couldn’t throw on a given play. But that’s literally all he has over him.

Cam is still better than both of them at this point. But it’s time to stop shitting on Bryce.

The defense gave up a score on every drive. How in the world did they give our offense short fields?

The defense was abysmal for both QBs. There was a stretch (NO2, NYG, KC, TB1, PHI) where the D was playing better, but for both QBs there was a 4 game stretch of 30+ point 'performances' by the D.

As to the D helping, they did a bit.  But BY also had 3 TD drives >70 yards, and 2 that were 58 yards.

It is not shitting on Bryce to say he hasn't yet gotten to the point of being "as clutch" as Jake. Jake did it for multiple seasons.  His first season as magical - something Bryce hasn't achieved yet. That isn't shitting on Bryce, get the fug out of here with that, lol
