Glenn is almost assuredly gone but I think Johnson may stick around. The options this round aren't great, Chicago obviously being the best. But their search is strange and supposedly Johnson also wants to have a say in the GM.

I do think that if Johnson skips this cycle, he will not be a part of as many coaching searches next season. Eventually you say no enough and people will just skip you.

He's not 60, he's 38 and widely regarded as one of the best offensive minds in the game right now, every team with an opening next year would still want him and put out a feeler to see if there is any interest on his end.

But those guys are very flavor of the month, if you skip too many cycles it will eventually get you. Not saying it will happen but it definitely could.

They're only flavors of the month if the offense they run then stops being elite, which I don't see that being the case next year with all the weapons they'll still have there.

The Lions would have to stay healthy on offense and completely tank for him to not be a hot name again next year, can't see it happening.

Most of the serious talk has been referencing Glenn or Kellen Moore.

I think most of these job searches are far less interesting than the sports media is implying. The likely candidate pools are fairly small for most of them. They just need to fill airwaves by drumming up horseshit like Johnson to the Raiders.

Sanders to Dallas is probably similar.

That game didn't kill either candidate, but a one and done is not going to help Glenn or Johnson.  Goff going full Goof will be enough of a reason they lost, but the defense was terrible last night.

But I do wonder if the emotion of yesterday (embodied by Campbell) will encourage Johnson, or possibly even Glenn, to commit to one more year in Detroit.

I could see Johnson staying.  I think he’s the rare type of guy that knows his niche.

I'd see him staying more than Glenn.

The Saints, Jets and Cowboys jobs have all been rumored as strong possibilities for Glenn.

I mean, no defense in the NFL lost what they have. It's unbelievable they won as many games as they did.

If you ever wanted a better argument against Evero, it would be what Detroit did.

Glenn has to take an HC job if offered to him, defensive coordinators can fall off a cliff in regards to HC interest if they have one horrible year.  He's getting a bit of a pass right now because of how banged up that defense is, but if they were to struggle again for a second season, especially if they were healthier, he'd likely lose all interest in him as a HC.

Johnson is the interesting one, as this type of loss, combined with the possibility of getting the HC job of whoever gets the #1 pick next year (and lucks into Arch) could very well be the type of thing to get him to come back to Detroit for one last try.
