My theory is that it was just a combination of an iladvised coaching hires with no real idea how to develop Young. None of the coaches knew how to build an offense or how to evaluate talent. Young needed to sit and learn the pro qb game for a while and work on his mechanics. None of that happened.  It was doomed from the start.

Agree. The offense wasn't good scheme wise, at least for a rookie. That week 3 game was definitely a benching. Should have kept him on the bench a couple more weeks when it was obvious he wasn't ready. I honestly believe Tepper wouldn't allow it last season. So I give Tepper some credit for stepping back and allowing Canales to run the team.

Actually, Bridgewater did have a 5 TD game like this in his 2nd season as he led the Vikings to the playoffs.

Then he had a season ending injury before his 3rd season began. That was the end of his career as a starter. Bryce Young is still behind what Bridgewater did in his first 2 seasons.

1 game.

On a roster with prime Adrian Peterson, Stefon Diggs, and Thielen.  lol.

Only 1 other game the rest of that season did he have more than 1 TD.  They aren't the same player at all.

Which has nothing to do with the comment that was made responding to the claim that Teddy never had a game 'half as good' as Bryce vs Atlanta, which is demonstrably refuted. Caveats, qualifiers, disclaimers... that game goes both ways. The definitive statement about franchise QB status will be made throughout the first half of next season.

In 2021 the Lions had all 3 of their wins between December and January. The next year they had 9 wins, and have trended up ever since. I’m not saying we are the Lions, they built there D up and learned to play defensive football no matter who is on the field. Bryce Young has proved over the back half of the year why he was the number 1 overall pick.

Last year he was put into the worst position in the league. Sacked the most, brand new head coach and all offensive coaches fired mid way through the year. He has proven that he is clutch this year. Anyone doubting him just refuses to be wrong. Gas light yourself. The doubters are the ones still crying to bring Cam back.

I was a huge hater and doubter through the Denver game and still uncertain but willing to change my mind after the Giants win. The games that were played after that made me think that he's the guy. Even his bad games, against Dallas and Tampa, were nowhere near the level of bad that we saw in the first 20 or so starts. He made big throws under pressure, led game-winning drives, and at times put the team on his back and will them to a victory. If not for our shitty defense we would have beaten Kansas City. If not for Leggette not being able to catch we had a lead at Philly with less than a minute left and their coach not having the confidence to try 50+ yard field goals so I like our chances to win that one too.  We win the Tampa game without Hubbard's untimely fumble. That essentially puts us at .500 for the season and right in the thick of the race. Pretty good considering we had the worst defense in NFL history.

You don't have to go to Minny.

Carolina Teddy.

308 total yards, 70% completion, 3 TDs.

329 total yards,  73% completion, 3 TDs.

he also had a couple 300 total yard games with a couple TDs.

So I would say easily, Teddy managed a game half as good
