Funny people are willing to throw out earlier games and apply a recent window onto an entire season, and yet these are the same people screaming "BYs stats suck because he's throwing to guys like Thielen!"

OK, let's give Thielen that same courtesy you're giving to BY. Take his stats since he's returned from injury and apply that to an entire season - 1,309 receiving yards, good for 3rd best in the NFL.

That was after:

  • Return vs. DEN
  • Win over NO

  • Losing 30-27 to KC after the defense let Mahomes walk downfield

Good Lord man

Now we're not allowed to compare Bryce to other QBs selected #1 overall? Who are we allowed to compare him to aside from Aidan O'Connell?

If you're going to insert yourself into the convo could you at least read the posts? My responses were all in regards to attempts to diminish Goff because he has a really good roster around him. He's been putting up numbers for years some better than others but he's produced even when the pieces around him were not always ideal. That's what we're waiting to see for our own guy.

I don't know why some of BYs biggest fans (not all of them, mind you - some recognize how good he has been) have to poo on Thielen. Dude is balling out. He's sneaky quick, slips behind defenses consistently and is one of the surest handed receivers we've ever had.

I really am excited to see him with Bryce next year and after another full year with Canales, they seem to really have developed some chemistry.

We have gone from "rushing TDs have to be included for the Panthers' starting QB" to "rushing TDs don't count for the Panthers' starting QB."

It’s just deceptive to list total TDs and then list  an inaccurate INT #.  You would need to list total TDs and total turnovers.  Initial breakdown also made sure to not include basic QB stats like comp % because Bryce is well below league average.

even a cherry picked Bryce is below average.  Which is fine if you view this as his rookie season.  Problem is some argue silly stuff like Bryce is playing like a top QB

Why are you guys so focused on Bryce. He's not a top 10 QB we know this. Even being a top 10 QB doesn't guarantee you team success look at Burrow.

This idea that Bryce can win games with this roster isn't realistic. He proved he can keep us in games with a limited roster. Isn't that enough to show you something?

My goodness people we have other holes on this roster. It doesn't matter if Bryce was a top 5 QB he doesn't have much talent around him. We need to focus on other things other than how our QB is not the elite of the elite.

If you read any of the first few pages the accurate numbers were very quickly posted and are what is being discussed in page 10 of this thread.

It’s also insane to act like Bryce’s rushing touchdowns don’t count, like a poster tried to argue, because he isn’t your prototypical rushing QB.

This is what I can’t follow. Nobody is saying right now Bryce is going to carry a bad roster to the playoffs (nobody can besides Tom Brady, look at the Bengals with 2 great WRs). We’re saying stop being overly emotional and so stuck to your perceived biases and having to show everyone you actually werent wrong, and take Bryce’s play at face value. Which is very clearly a young guy who had a horrible situation around him his rookie year and has made an exponential leap and we want to see what year 3 looks like.

    • I’m well aware of all that and actually prefer Carter as an ILB. As an EDGE his pass rushing skills rely on his speed. He’s a freak athlete like Parsons for sure and is super dangerous when attacking the outside shoulder of the tackle because his bend is elite but beyond that what does he provide you with? As an EDGE, his run defense is average and he constantly looks like he has no pass rush plan and is just content with using his speed to get sacks. His pass rushing technique and his moves are super raw, hell, he rarely even uses his hands when rushing the passer. There’s a lot of risk in asking a speed rusher to bulk up. For starters he could lose some of that speed and explosiveness. There’s just too many question marks with Carter to take him when someone like Starks might be on the board.
    • I like the idea of targeting DTs T.J. Sanders or Corleon late in the 2nd or 3rd for our DT pick. With 8th pick, I like Starks, Emmanwori, or Will Johnson. Unless someone like Hunter falls that far, which isn't happening. I don't see and Edge guy I like that high. And I think DT is deep enough not to draft that position at 8. Hopefully we find a partner to trade down with and collect a couple more picks. McMillan would be quite tempting with his size at 8 as well. I'm also targeting a guy like Carters teammate, Dennis-Sutton in the 3rd or 4th. The guy is 6-5 and 270 playing the edge.
