Several of those players he brought in, and a handful he pushed out. We lost Luvu, Chinn, Jackson and Burns. We brought in several of his former players. -
I don't think he "hand picked" them as much as they just tried to get affordable talent familiar with him. They were hoping that they'd be elevated by the system again, but low and behold we're running a bunch of soft cover three zone to deal with the talent deficit that ended up being somehow worse than anticipated. I can also see the team not looking to invest heavily in EE's guys without knowing whether or not he'd be back. Now that there's direction there, they can go all in. Considering that he's had to work with scraps the last couple of seasons, it's an exciting change to me. 😄 -
I found a bit more info on it and he ran 3-3-5 like 18% of the time -- largely on obvious passing downs. Rest of the time was a combination of 4-3, 4-2-5, 4-1-6, with a tiny amount of 3-2-6. His base was 4 down linemen and he never had 4 linebackers on the field. Yeah he adapted a ton but it was very much based around a 4-3, NOT a 3-4.
