We Need More Pacific Islanders on this Team

Recommended Posts

Just had a random thought recently about league-wide talent, and it occurred to me that we don't have any Samoan, Tongan, or Polynesian players right now. These players are usually beasts that add to the overall physicality and talent of a team.

Our most notable islanders were Luvu and Lotuleilei with a shout out to Ma'ake Kemoeatu.

Some of the best teams right now have these guys: Rams - Nacua, Lions - Sewell, Commanders - Luvu, Buccaneers - Vea, Falcons - Bijan Robinson, etc.

Dan Morgan needs to keep this in the back of his mind going into next year. Just saying.

    • There’s too many other issues not to keep the few promising defensive players that we do have. Jackson and Horn both need to be rewarded this offseason with contracts. We need major help (in order) at edge, interior DL, linebacker, and safety. Morgan needs to sign 3-4 high impact defensive free agents and go heavy defense in the draft, while also looking for more help at receiver and center. That’s where my focus would be.
    • I’m always hesitant to buy into analysts saying it is a “weak class” compared to last year. For example, some said the 2017 QB draft class was “weak”, yet we all know who came out of that draft class (Mahomes). Positional depth and strengthens can vary from draft to draft, but there are usually players who prove people wrong and go on to have great careers. So while I respect that some people view this class as “weaker” than last year, I’m sure there are players that can be difference makers and potentially be perennial pro bowlers.
