some rando's opinion... Evero *will be* first to be fired

said it before the first ball was kicked off...Evero was setup to be the fall guy this year from the jump.  Whatever happened this year, Canales team was going to be setup at a minimum...to at least be able to point at Evero for blame/change.

Evero wasn't allowed to leave.  They gutted the D roster.  Everyone knew it was going to go backwards by front office design.

It's a scapegoat business.  Generally there is always someone going into a season where if it goes bad will be the blame guy.   It's why I like clean slates without holdovers.  The holdovers are always the blame guys.  That can be coaching or front office.   It's why Fitterer should of gone w/ Rhule.  Why we shouldn't of hired Morgan.  Always a carry over to lay blame at their feet.

He was put in a bad situation and he should have been allowed to interview elsewhere.  That said, he did pick out a lot of his guys to bring in,  a lot of players don't seem to like playing in his system, and I personally just hate his scheme in general.   Both things can be true, he was put in a crappy situation, and he didn't do a very good job also.

If you separate defensive playcalling vs personnel, it’s a bit hard to tell IMO because the talent has been so depleted. But he’s did get a lot of his guys (Jackson, Fuller, Hill, Robinson, Jewell, etc) And the lack of pass rushers is one of the worst d situations in the league the past 5 years easy.

I will say, he was advertised as a Fangio disciple but blitz heavy with simulated pressures all over the place, and he originally lived up to that.  Now, I don’t know if he’s changing unknowingly or failing to prescribe what works with our crap talent. But it’s not quite working.

Honestly, this could be a defensive Joe Brady situation but I do think we’d be better suited to have Canales identify what he wants to build.

Im sorry but just based on that companies unemployment premium possibly going up if the fired employee's new job falls through and how flimsy pips hold up in unemployment court as opposed to a voluntary quit, that is quite possibly the most retarded thing i have ever heard an employer do.

Imagine working for them every day. I mean that literal. 67 days at one point 10+hours per day.

Why would he be the first name fired? He's likely to be a HC candidate even with this unimpressive defense. Hold out to see if he gets hired so we can get draft comp.

All that is hot air IMO, hate to say it but he's just an interview candidate for teams to tick the Rooney Rule check list

Was thinking this, I don't think he's the worst, but he's taking the brunt of everything.  I think when provided specific personnel for his scheme, it can be good to great, but it takes specific personnel that fits his specific scheme.  Problem is, Everything wont always be perfect, need to adapt to the personnel you have.  There's the old poker adage, "Play the hand you're dealt, not the one you wish you had" and because he couldn't adapt to his personnel, he'll lose his job. He'll rebound and be a fine DC somewhere, just not here.

As for us, was thinking about what options are out there and thought about.  Would wonder if Tepper and wilks would be willing to mend their bridge.  I do think Wilks can be a good defensive coordinator, do think some of his old concepts would be decent with our personnel especially with his blitz heavy approach.  That said, shouldn't be our first choice, but I also don't think it would be the worst option considering there's still players here with relationships with Steve and they clearly wanted him to stay in 2022.  Just a thought.

I don't think Wilks could be drug back here. He will be in college somewhere is my guess. I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to coach vacancies/hirings. I don't see it happening. I think it will be somebody with a clear connection to Brandt, Morgan, Canales, or Goodwin.

Bob Saleh, Joe Cullen, Aaron Curry, Ken Norton Jr, somebody in that realm. If we are lucky, James Bettcher.

IMO we are more likely to land Ron than Wilks which I think would do more harm than good.

wouldnt be sad to see robert saleh here.  Bad HC, but he knows defense.  Similar IMO to Wade Phillips.  I do know Canales being young has a limited connection to other NFL coaches which will/would make the search a little different than some.

    • Milroe did declare after a shaky season, so the above post is pretty much accurate as far as the top guys available.  Milroe, Ewers and Beck are going to be big time reaches for some teams.  I'm glad it won't be us.
    • Why are we placing a 2-3 mil/year FA signing on the same value level as a UDFA but adverse to using a 6th-7th on one?  I don't get this logic or reasoning from either a financial or value standpoint.  It's not like Shirden, Spencer Brown, or [insert next guy] will be some insert/magic button.  We have selected UDFA RBs nearly every offseason for our entire history, and they rarely work out.  Most starting RBs are draft picks, and for a reason.     Just because R1-2 doesn't make sense value wise, unless it's a Gibbs-type talent, doesn't mean the talent in the mid to late rounds is rendered obsolete.  Guys get drafted for a reason.  If the value add and talent is there, by all means add it.
    • As I was typing sonthing good he does that..... is your koochie fervor waning yet? Because man he just gives up some fauking awful goals sometimes
