As it should be. Who wants some heavily moderated site that only approved talking points are allowed? We have a really short list of "rules" and other than that pretty much anything flies.

Too many people view any view opposed to their own as "trolling". Like really? People are so fragile that encountering a differing opinion automatically means the person isn't serious? What a terribly warped and narcissistic worldview.

Ok Elon.

The message board itself is slowly dying. I'm not surprised if some mods have vacated completely. Zod rarely stops by and I'm sure will one day just let it go and pull the plug. Message boards as a whole do not seem to be big as they once were I guess because of Instagram and tiktoks now. It's just a matter of time before this address is typed in and nothing comes up so just enjoy it while it's there.

I agree that the opposing view should be ok. What I see too much of is a small number of people trying to jump in and “destroy” threads that they oppose. We get it that their opinion is different and that the opposing view is somehow a huge trigger. But they can’t stand a discussion they don’t agree with. So by not moderating, they take over and destroy every thread, making most people not engage, hence we miss out on a potentially good discussion.

However, that is essentially impossible to moderate, so I don’t blame the mods in this case. It’s not like being a mod is a full time paid position. Mods are volunteers.

I don’t have a solution, outside of people being less angry and growing up, I just wanted to share my perspective.

There's this really cool feature available where you can block individual posters and you won't see their posts if you find their content harmful to the fragility of your psyche. I mean, you can literally moderate the site for yourself! It's incredible!

I encourage anyone who thinks there are trolls to utilize this wonderful feature for themselves and cultivate their own personalized version of the Huddle instead of just bitching and moaning for the mods to please save them from harmful differing opinions.

I can't block individuals I don't like because I have too much fun bickering with them back and forth with mom jokes like we are both 14 all over again

the board is largely for older types that want to bicker with the same people instead of bickering with new different accounts on social media.

is it the wild west?  I mean, compared to the social media sites like reddit, twitter, etc???

Social media is a sewer that rots your brain.

Eh, I'm mostly here for the few that are worth engaging with and to be amused by the same hot takes I've seen so many times already.

    • I don't think he is nearly as bad as people in this board like to act.  You pick up the option without question.
    • The Canes decided to ring in the new year with a second shootout loss to Columbus Tuesday night. Same team, same building. The only 2 shootout losses of the season and both to a team who was below .500 at the start of the night. After a 7-2 start of the season in October- remember, most of that was on the road- winning 4 in a row in Edmonton, Calgary, Seattle and Vancouver; returning home to curb-stomp the Bruins 8-2. Freddie Andersen was lost to injury on October 26. November was a second good month with a few more home games to make up for the NC State Fair road trip. Late in the month things began to slide the wrong direction. A loss to NJ on the 2nd game of a b2b followed by the first shootout loss to Columbus. But things might have looked a little better following wins over Dallas and the Rags at home... and then a b2b with Florida to end the month was a disaster, giving up 12 goals while scoring 3. A 9-5-1 month of November isn't enough to complain about, is it? A 63% point month? Not so bad? December was, based on the Canes winning history over the past 6 seasons, a nightmare. 6-6-1 to finish the month with a single 2-game win streak the entire month, beating Columbus and the Islanders. And, to match that effort, the Canes also had a single 2-game losing streak. A loss to Nashville heading into the holiday break and a loss to NJ coming back from the holiday break. A strong answer to that NJ loss was a 2nd game b2b win over NJ the next night. My 2025 starts with much lower expectations as the canes will face Florida on the road Jan 2, followed by home games against a strong Minnesota team and the Pens. And so it goes. If I'm being honest, January looks like another .500 month. Three b2b sets, starting with Saturday-Sunday this weekend at home; next Thursday-Friday at home and a b2b road trip in Chicago and Dallas. I've got the Canes pegged for 7 losses in a January filled with 15 games. The trade deadline is March 8th this year. And don't forget the 4 Nations Face-Off with Canada, Finland, Sweden and the USA from February 12-20. The Canes play their last game heading into the tournament on Feb 8 and don't return until Feb 22.
