Ron as DC

I believe any DC candidate should be a strong with HC experience.   No reason to settle for less. One that is capable of coaching any scheme.

Ron does fit those requirements,  although so do others.

Ron wouldn't be a bad choice, although the search, if there is to be one,  needs to be fair and thorough,  and let the best candidate win the position.

It's going to come down to whoever they can convince to take it. It's the same situation they faced with trying to find a headcoach.

I'm not buying Peyton and Harbaugh wanted the job here.

Word has it that the Jets will give him the first crack of the HC job for them. Just leave that here...

Ron’s strength is a culture builder, perfect for stopping a disaster of an org and get them close to normal. Then someone else will have to take over to take them from normalized to good. Ron is not a bad choice for the Jets, but I’m not sure they have the patience to start doing things the right way.

I think we’ll have a decent chance to get Saleh as he’s friends with Canales, good change of scenery for him, and turning around the disaster of a defense that is the Panthers would set him up for a future second chance at a HC job. And he would get paid really well.

Maybe Harbaugh. I think the drive to get back into the NFL was probably fairly strong. Also the challenge presented here would satisfy that competitive edge on him.

I would be in agreement about Peyton.

I would be a little surprised if we have a well-known DC. It will take someone looking for a particular challenge, or someone looking for their big break.

I think he used Tepper to get the Chargers gig.

Very likely. I mean he is back on the West Coast. He went to a team that had some pieces in place but had underachieved. On the other hand, it's all just speculation since he was never really considered here, or offered the job, as far as we know.

He was out as soon as he heard about the Monday morning meetings.

100%.  You got a trainwreck? Well, you hire a Fox, Ron, etc type.  You want over the hump? You replace those types.  Often you can't just jump to the over the hump types because they often aren't good with the pooshow.   Wilks is an example of that mold as well.

there are some unicorns.  I think Dan Campbell might be an example but rare.

It would be no established HC's first choice, unless that coach just wants to truly rebuild a franchise.

    • Honestly I wasn't even thrilled about paying Chuba what we did just as I was iffy about trading up into the 2nd to draft an RB who was also injured. I have and continue to be in the camp that we can find good backs in the mid rounds of the draft. I know full well the Panthers history of overinvesting in the position. But I'm not going to sit here and take away what he's done for the offense this season. He has more often than not been our offense and helped give this team a much needed jolt aside from that one Bucs game. Dave Canales himself has gone out of his way to acknowledge how important a player like Chuba has been for our young group. First of all. Chuba had 900 yards and 5 scores with that OL last season. That's not what I've said. Last year the talk was about the OL being bad which it was and we addressed it very strongly with a significant financial investment. Now we have to turn our attention to the defense. And yes that significant investment in the OL meant we would always have a subpar defense at best this season. And it's been talked about a great deal to the point our DC may be on his way out the door. The defense has to be the priority going forward. I've already posted the statistics for all three backs this season if you want to maintain that position that's up to you but Chuba is right there with Bijan and Kamara was an afterthought this season.
    • Lucky for me I don't care about what people think of me. Back to the game mod.
    • And as far as my intelligence the definition of Fact is: A thing that is KNOWN OR proven to be true!! That's like saying LeBron is one of the best Basketball players of all time would be a FACT!! And it's also a FACT that Chuba isn't a top 5 RB in the league because it's known lol
