Tell that to the players who vouched for him. Tell that to the Nat'l media who vouched for him because he earned the job.

We all know why we didn't run it back with Wilks it's because Tepper felt he had too much control. The man is a man's man and Tepper couldn't take it.

It is what it is we have Bryce and Canales now we are heading in the right direction.

Players loved Hurney too. That means little. And again, Wilks was better than Rhule and is a poor man's John Fox. Moving on from him was a reasonable move, and Reich being an atrocious (and completely avoidable) choice does not diminish that.

Allen was considered very raw and a complete project QB.  Young was considered the most pro ready QB in the class and probably since Trevor Lawrence.

The expectations for these two early on couldn't have been any more polar opposites.

allen didnt even think he'd end up in the pros until his mom told him during his last season that he should start thinking about being drafted. he was just out there in wyoming hurping and durping it

Y'all have completely moved the goalposts and lost sight of the point entirely. I did not bring up Allen nor did I say anything about that other than to respond to the ludicrous comment that was made.

My point was simply that franchise QBs find ways to win certain types of games, games where (as one example) poor defense needs to be overcome. That's not happening yet in Carolina and that is a big metric for being a 'franchise QB'. It really is that simple and all that was said.

My original comment for reference, in its entirety:

"We aren't winning because of him either. Gotta have that from a true franchise QB. Not every single game of course, but more often that not."

I mean, Bryce has had a few of those moments spoiled by last second field goals on full field drives with less than 30 seconds and no time outs.. or fumbles in overtime games in field goal position... or with just bad missed field goals in general.

Just saying, lets be fair, that the guy has put us into position to win a couple of games this year and the defense couldn't finish the game with little to no time left.

To be clear, I'm neutral on Young, would love for him to succeed, but all about replacing him if he doesn't step it up next season, but let's not be unfair here.

Bryce has one last shot.  If he doesn't massively improve next year, then no 5th year option and can be traded or ride the bench in 2026 before coming a FA.  No moral victories, no more 'he was so close' or ______ isn't helping him/holding up their end.  It's a put up or shut up year, zero excuses.

You're cute. Keep the faith and never change.

3 straight games Bryce had the ball in his hands at the end of the game and he personally did enough to win, but you say he didn't do enough? Do you want him to play defense too? With him on the field and under a minute to go, would that be him doing enough to win? Do you want him to be the running back so that he doesn't fumble the ball in OT after getting into FG range?

With your logic, Allen didn't do enough in the playoffs back in the 2021 AFC championship game when the defense gave up a score with 13 seconds left on the clock. What a scrub, should have found a way to win.

I'm kinda listening, but Bryce's issue seems to be consistency of which you're not really acknowledging.  I think that some of it simply stems from not being able to see the field due to his height.

Eh, I don't see it yet relative to my position, which has always been a ceiling around Bridgewater/Alex Smith levels of effectiveness. That's the track the outcomes are on. Is it better than QB play of recent years? Absolutely. Is it worth what was paid? No (though that's a sunk cost). Is it good enough to call a franchise QB and forego competition/continuing to look? Also no if the real objective is winning Super Bowls.

At this point it will be the Bryce show in year 3, and fair enough. I just truly hope the team continues to push him with legitimate competition of some sort and doesn't put blinders on.

Bingo - consistency is needed and that's a big part of what is missing from both Bryce and the team in general. Yin and yang/chicken and egg? Perhaps.

The height is debatable, though perhaps that contributes to the red zone slowdowns if anywhere on the field.

On topic, Sam was probably the most consistent of recent QBs. Baker never really had a chance.

If he vastly improves, then great.  However, I've seen time and time again teams extend mediocre QBs because they were high first round picks just to have that second contract blow up in their face. Does Daniel Jones ring a bell? Produce at a high level or it's time to move on.

It's a good thing they have a couple more years before they have to worry about that. They have you to worry about until then.

A couple?  Young's future with the Panthers will be decided next offseason.  He's either going to get the 5th year option which signals strongly a second contract or they will be looking for serious competition or an outright replacement.
