100% for some reason across the nfl its required to say nothing bad about him and jump for joy when he plays average.  Meanwhile falcons rookie qb playing lights out tonight.

There was one series in particular

BY dropped back to pass and slipped... the announcer commented that this was an actual positive... spun it that he "didn't panic" or something

then BY rolled out, badly missed a wide open receiver... again this was spun as a positive sign for BY

very next play BY throws the ball into the dirt 5 yards behind the intended target... announcer once again spun this as a positive play from BY

 

really like what is even going on, what did this guy do exactly to get this kind of treatment? its so bizarre

Lights out?  Am I missing something? They have a better team but Pinnix stats aren’t lights out. In terms of progression (Bryce) and overall state of the current dysfunction of the franchise, he’s right where he needs to be.  He has dealt with a coaching debacle year one, transitioning to an entire new system year two and has limited weapons due to an abysmal draft/trade decision to get him. 

I, however think the organization and NFL pundits know the set of circumstances he’s in is a tough one. It’s not “kids” gloves but reality. A knee jerk reaction will only make things worse since there has been significant improvement with Bryce’s overall play and decision making. I’m not too worried about the supporting cast, he will make them better if he continues to progress, year 3 is the make or break season.  I have previously posted if you follow the career of Drew Brees, it is similar to Bryce.  This is who he maybe can be in the long run, he will never be a 6’4 stud with a rifle but Drew Brees got the right coach and personnel at the right time.  Let’s hope Canales is that guy regardless of ownership.  I think stacking the defense is the right call, no matter who is QB.

You know, people see and hear what they want to. You have that right, however you can pull tape on a given series or two on any QB in the league and deduce that this dude is garbage..,just stop.  There are a fair amount of analysts and broadcasters that have played the game at some level, they understand how difficult the game/QB role is, so yes, most know better than to trash any QB.  A window of opportunity from the stands or booth ain’t what the QB always sees, so open ain’t always open the slightest arm raise etc can change that window.

I’m not making excuses for Bryce or any QBs bad play, just hope “fans” will calm the f down, let coaches pull the trigger as needed as they are very much aware of their players capabilities. Let the young coach and QB go through growth pains. I hope Tepper lets them be and the organization focuses on defense.

And we coached and played aggressively to get us in to FG range as well. Big momentum swing when we missed that FG before halftime. Not that it would have mattered overall, but took some of our momentum away nonetheless.

Very true. We had a couple good drives in a row - if we had a decent kicker we would have come out of the half with a chance to make it a one score game.

My big concern with the offense is consistency. But our best weapon was out, so...

I can agree that was a huge momentum shift and on the road against a division rival with playoffs on the line little things like that can quickly spiral. We really need a damn kicker.

john mckay, who was of course the coach of the bucs at the time.
