It's because they want to be correct about Bryce so bad, it's much easier to pick apart every single throw that isn't perfect and put the blame on him. It was an underthrown ball with pressure in his face. XL should have at minimum extended his arms towards the ball and try to catch it. Both are true.

DB can't make contact like that though. He stuck is hand/arm over Legettes body so he couldn't come back to the ball. It was a badly underthrown ball though. Receiver has to fight through that contact.

It isn't their fault. Not fair to blame them when you are throwing out half a squad of practice squad players. It is what it is, injuries decimated an already depleted roster.
