Hot Take: This team will never get over the hump, until we move on from Bryce.

That sounds good in theory, but I don't believe a QB makes a WR better than he is. A good one can help him reach his potential but not necessarily surpass it. If he ain't a playmaker, a QB ain't gonna make him one. However, a good WR can help QBs look better than they really are though.

Bryce is not Brock Purdy. Bryce Young is actually most dangerous when the play breaks down.

As for Cam in 2015 - his 5th year in the NFL. No QB has ever done more with less. That's not a fair comparison for Bryce Young. He isn't built that way. Cam could lead the team in rushing yards and TDs, rushing attempts, and passing. Heck if he ran a couple of routes a game, he probably would have led the team in receiving too. All he ever needed was average protection and a couple of speed guys to stretch the defense. How friggin hard was that? Hurney and Rivera suck A$$ for what they did to him - truly a generational talent that flamed out in his prime ala Bo Jackson.

That might just be semantics though and us saying close to the same thing.  Cam Newton got the most out of Philly Brown.   I don't think most lesser QBs get that out of Philly.  A lot of getting the most out of Philly was the stress Cam uniquely put on a defense.

I don't consider Young dangerous when the play breaks down.  I think he is just underrated or surprising when it does given everything you see.  Brock is a bit like that too in reality.

but I don't disagree with your 2015 Cam take.  That's why I put it on Fitterer....because that is what he sold in a different package/language.   Cam allowed you skimp on the OL, WR, etc.   He sold the same thing for Bryce.

Ehhh the Purdy comparison isn't great... Bryce is more athletic, and Purdy is substantially more accurate than Bryce Young. Young has the second highest percentage of bad throws (23.1%) and 6th lowest percent of on target throws (71.7%).

Purdy is 12th lowest in bad throws (14.1%), and 23rd for on target throws (78.4%).  He's between Herbert, Goff, and Carr in bad throw %.

Young and Purdy have both had receivers with a decent number of drops (4.6% and 4.3%) this year too.

They are both limited physically and can perform when carried by the talent around them but won't be carrying much on their own as a QB.

They are more similar than different. Their supporting casts are different for sure. Brock has a better arm & size and Bryce is a better runner, pretty much a wash IMO because neither are good enough to really make a difference in that comparison.

Saw the panthers huddle show thing with TD a lil while ago....

Thomas Davis bringin up cj stroud and mentioning enjoyin him regressing is a kinda cheap shot move to me. Why even say that? Does he not know stroud numbers are still better than bryce for the year and he in the playoffs? TD better than that. That something a goofy fan would say

I am/have been very critical of Young. I understand that it is in the Panthers best interest for him to succeed. However, I also realize that wanting and reality are two different things. I hope Bryce does well on Sunday.

I think the Panthers have GOT to bring in some type of competition. Bryce has been handled to softly and it wasn't until he thought he was benched indefinitely that he got his bullshit together.

Bring in real competition, and let him fight for it. If he can beat it, I'll be behind him 100%.

I mean, there just isn't a comparable that exists for Bryce Young.  It's the NFL.  Best I could manage.

CJ Stroud will have back to back division titles, back to back playoff appearances, will have finished his first 2 seasons 8th and 11th in passing yards.

TD is a Panther employee now.

Are you suggesting we sign Justin Fields?

If you think Bryce has the ability to fire the line drive rope throws that someone like Jameis or Wentz can throw, then I have some Arizona beachfront property to sell you.

Bryce has to have a perfectly clean pocket to step into and make a perfect throw to get the ball 50 yards down the field, at least 20 other starting QB's in this league can make that throw off base and with just the flick of a wrist.

If people want to believe Bryce can still be a good QB in this league, that's their prerogative, I'd disagree, but people can still think it.  However, even those people have to understand and admit that he just doesn't have even an average starting QB arm for the NFL.  Short of him starting to take steroids and bulk up like crazy, he'll always have one of the weakest arms of all starting QB's in the league, and that's not debatable.

Carson Wentz?? We being serious here? What on earth has made you think Carson wentz is a decent quarterback in the year 2025? He was terrible his last season in Philly, awful in Washington.

Go back and watch that 50 yard touchdown to thielen. He didn’t even step into the throw, at all. He was more on his back foot. You’re just a goober playing fantasy GM in your mind when the truth is you don’t know a damn thing about ball
