In theory I agree with you.

Unfortunately, the Carolina Panther draft history in recent years is terrible. I'd be terrified if we got an extra pick in round 2 because I'd be almost willing to bet a month's salary we'd pick the wrong player. I think I'd jump out of my bedroom window if we picked a WR. 🤢

There's obviously contract issues when doing it, but I'm at the point where I'd almost rather trade 2nd round picks for established players.

Really need a 3rd QB to come out of nowhere at the combine and have an Anthony Richardson type rise. Don't think we'll be in a trade down position, but damn it would be nice to move down a couple of spots and grab an extra 2nd rounder at minimum.

Milroe had another bad game, but possibly. Ewers is the other possibility--a Bo Nix kinda system.

I think someone drafts Ewers in the 1st somewhere. I think at least 3 go in the 1st round. But offseason signings might change that depending on how that goes.

I wouldn't go into this draft thinking we'll be able to make a trade inside the top 10. Recent history is showing that these moves don't really pan out. The 49ers gave up a kings ransom to draft Trey Lance. He couldn't beat out a QB taken in the 7th round. Lance is now buried on the Dallas roster behind 2 other QBs. Moving up to get Bryce didn't exactly put us up over the hump either and we lost our best receiver and draft capital to do so.

I don't see a player in this draft worth giving up a 2026 1st round, and a 2025 2nd round, and possibly a a 2027 2nd round. One of the worst things to happen was the creation of the draft chart. it's way to expensive to make deals at the TOP THE DRAFT. If some idiot GM approaches us with a deal then we should listen. But, I think GMs (especially the ones on bad teams) may start to wise up and just let the chips fall where they may.

I think if the Raiders can trade only their 2026 1st in addition to this year's first to get into position to get their QB, they'd do it in a heartbeat given all their QB issues over the years.  Which is why I'd love to just be one pick ahead of them, so we still get whoever we would have taken without a trade back and pick up that extra 1st.

But I don't think anyone is going to be dumb enough to give up a haul like we did for Bryce, it was too much then, it would be too much now.  A single future 1st round pick though, that seems much more reasonable.

I think we have dropped him more than scouts have based on his injury history---Ewers had a Manning looking over his shoulder and he kept his job and made Texas a possible national champion--not sure he can do more than that.

Raiders, Giants, Browns (I would wager), Titans, Jets (probably--Rodgers is a turd), and maybe even the Saints (expected to be over cap by $60m--cutting Carr saves them $40m, or so).

I imagine there will be trades if teams like New England and Jax are in the top 5.

Gotta think about the veterans who are going to be shopped--Rodgers, Cousins, etc. but I do not see a strong market for vets who were paid to revive a program and lost. Someone might go after Fields and I can see a team taking a flyer on Lance (doubt it), but there really aren't going to be many names in free agency.  And you have to consider salary--what does Fields cost you?  $10-12 million? Ewers at pick #10, for example, might cost you $5m-

so yeah, I could see a team spending a first rounder on a player like Ewers--(after today's game, Milroe's stock is dropping).   I would draft him.  I am guessing the Giants, Raiders, and Browns are in best position to grab a QB with the Raiders on the outside looking in.  Lot could change after Sunday--

This is the last shot these top 5 qb's have to show the football world what they offer to the scouts and the nfl execs who call the shots. Free agency should clear things up about who may go in the first round. Some may wait until the second round but we shall see.

I think a lot of it depends on what happens with the Jets. If they move off Rodgers they prob try to keep core players and build from there, but if they keep Rodgers I don't see Garret Wilson staying there another year. We should run to the table with that Rams second and maybe toss in a 2026 5th or something to sweeten the pot and see if they bite. If yes, would be great to be able to use our first on the best defensive player available.

Looking like (but who knows) Rodgers is going to move on, based on a few internet rumors. One of which (take with grain of salt) is a trade with Dallas.

Well it’s the Jets so who knows but if he moves on and I’m them, I fully build around Wilson, Sauce and Quinnen
