Am I the only one who sees the light at the end of the tunnel?

LOL, spot on

To answer the original question, no, I don't see the light at the end of the tunnel right now, but I do think we have finally entered the tunnel, where as the last few years we still hadn't even reached it yet.

I like the culture Canales is creating, I like the OL we've put together so far, we'll get DB back, Horn has stayed mostly healthy, Hubbard has been good, guys like XL, Coker, and Sanders have shown real potential.

But having said that, I still don't think Bryce isn't ever going to be that guy, and we still don't have a true #1 WR and unless we draft T-Mac, we're not finding that this offseason either as it's not going to be Higgins and there won't be any others in FA that would look here (i.e. no Cooper or Diggs type of FA who could still have a #1 year left in them).

And that's just on offense, we still have so many holes on the defense, but hopefully we can fill a couple of them in FA after we hopefully spend all our cap room on that side of the ball.

I see a path to see that light in the next 2 years...

Spend all cap space on defense, and no need to spread it out, if you can get a couple splash signings, even if overpaying a bit if they're younger, it's okay because this thing isn't being figured out in one offseason.  Draft T-Mac to get us our #1 WR for the next decade and then use the rest of our picks on defense, only exception would be if we can get a starting Center or maybe a quick twitch fast slot WR in the mid rounds.

Then when Bryce shows with another full season that he's never going to be even an above average QB in this league, we draft a QB in the 1st round of what is supposed to be a QB heavy draft.  Maybe at our own pick, maybe we do what it takes to trade up to get someone.

Then again, if our young core of Hubbard, Brooks, T-Mac, XL, Coker, and Sanders are progressing as we hope, and the OL is staying healthy and solid, you spend all available cap on the defense for a 2nd offseason which by then should give us a good defense too.

That's how you build a SB contender as you'd hopefully have the OL and weapons, as well as a good defense, and then insert the 1st round QB to take advantage of the rookie contract and have a solid 4 year SB window.

But in this league, when you don't have the QB or a #1 WR, you just aren't going to be a SB contender.  It's what today's NFL has turned into, the days of winning a SB because of a dominant running game and defense are pretty much over.  And that's not to say you can't win a SB game that way, but you're not getting there without a passing game these days.

Then our future sucks

Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Lamar, Hurts, Herbert, Love, Daniels, Goff, Baker, Kyler, Dak, Stroud, Tua, Nix, Purdy, Lawrence, Richardson, Maye, Caleb

Bryce is never going to be better than any of those guys, that's 20 QB's ahead of him right there who should be playing at least 5 more years.

That list doesn't include Stafford, Wilson, Geno, Rodgers, Carr, or Watson who are also all better than Bryce but don't have many years left in this league.  It also doesn't include McCarthy or Penix who very well could be better than him, as well as not including Darnold who maybe turned a corner this year and will be good moving forward, we'll see.

I can of course admit that he's looked better the last month or so, but that's a low bar compared to what he was previously.  But he's still never going to be even a Top 20 QB in this league, legitimate chance he will never crack even the Top 25.

That's the future you want at QB in a QB driven league?  We will never be a SB contender with Bryce as QB, I'm very confident in that.

As soon as I saw Kyler and Richardson on your list I started question T-Mac as a prospect

I'm not saying they're Top 10 QBs, I'm not even saying they're guys who should/could win a SB, but they're better than Bryce, no doubt about it (an argument can be made that Bryce is playing better than Richardson right now of course, but Richardson will be better over the next few years, for sure).

And even if you want to knock those 2 guys off your list, that still has 18 QBs better than Bryce, not including the old guys, unproven 1st rounders, or players who will come into the league in the next couple years.

Bryce is so severely limited physically compared to today's NFL QB's that he's always going to be at a disadvantage, there's a lot of throws that he just flat out can't make with his arm, and that has nothing to do with his lack of size which isn't a non issue.  Give Bryce those two guys' physical abilities and he'd be better than them, no doubt about it, but if you can't see Bryce for what he is (and isn't), then you're fooling yourself.

His max upside is a serviceable game manager, that's not who you want to build your franchise around in today's NFL, it's never going to be SB good enough.

Sadly I agree. A few of the QB’s listed I see Bryce as a better option, but at his best he will never be a top 10 QB. Unfortunately that doesn’t win us a Super Bowl in this era.

Happily, you don't need a top 10 QB to win a SB or get to a SB.

Brock Purdy and Nick Foles say get talent around me and I can take you to the promise land or even win it all.

Let's talk about what Bryce can be and what he can't be. Otherwise are you even a fan at that point?

Yea, everyone views players differently and I could see people thinking Bryce will be better than a couple of them, but just not for me.  But once you add in the older guys still kicking around, any new QB's that will come in over the next few years, plus others who might still pan out, Bryce is just never even going to be a Top 20 QB in this league.

I get it, he's improved enough to make the team want to see what he has next year, but I'd still trade him for the best offer we can get this offseason.  Then sign Jameis as he's going to cost us wins, but he can sling the rock and it will help the development of our young weapons, and likely keep us in the Top 5-10 next year in a better QB draft too.

Bryce isn't going to be either of those guys, at least not "good Foles" like he was during that SB run

(btw, don't talk poo about my guy Foles... don't forget where he went to school LOL... the funny thing is he went to Michigan State as a freshman, where most of my friends went, and his parents bought a condo there.  After he transferred out to Arizona after that first year, they sold it and one of my friends going into law school that year at MSU bought it from them, small world).

And you know it's possible to be a fan and still be able to judge your team's players objectively, right?
