It feels more like making sure he doesn’t get hurt that could impact his availability for 2025, with Brooks already not likely to play

That is exactly what they are doing.  No timeline yet on Brooks, and Chuba is their workhorse.  If he blows out a knee during these last 2 meaningless games, we' d have to draft or sign a top RB to start next season.

We can never know to the level the team does but there definitely wasn't PUBLIC news of him being injured. It's a little odd in the timing, hence the raised eyebrow.

Could be nothing at all, obviously. I wouldn't think that would behoove a young coach to make such a move when he is trying to win games and gather momentum for next year.

I will say the odds of winning these last two games really fell off a cliff. Might be a good time to jump on TB and ATL to cover.

I’m ok with it just be competitive

    • I see it this way--what if you play Hubbard and he blows a knee?  I would not be surprised to see Horn benched.  I would not be surprised to see veterans like Jewell, Wonnum, Clowney, and maybe even Bryce benched at some point to prevent some injury that might impact the offseason/camp etc.  In addition, it would assure a top 6 or so pick.  In addition, you get to see how players like Plummer and a few others look when the bullets are real (unlike in preseason.)  I realize that some of you think this is lunacy, but it happens and it is smart, actually.  I think you try to win, you just try to win with developmental players while protecting your core for 2025.
    • Also, look up the number of times Jake and Cam had the 32nd-ranked defense. Young's ceiling is below theirs, no doubt at all (I'd like a QB in this draft personally and not in the 6th-7th round) but those teams had strong defenses and weapons like Steve Smith and Muhsin Muhammad or Steve Smith, Greg Olsen and Jeremy Shockey (who'd probably trump Thielen now).
    • This is truly one of the most retarded takes I've ever seen. Young has underachieved (other than the last couple months) but you don't even look at the numbers when you throw out crap like this. Josh Rosen's best QB rating ever was 88.9 in a 30-10 loss. Young's surpassed that twice in the last month. Hell, Rosen's career QB rating is low 60s -- a hell of a lot lower than Young's mid-70s rating. Now, Young will play like crap the last two games in large part because he has no weapons, no run game, absolutely no defense and a crap OL, but he'll be expected to be 1984 Dan Marino by the people who consider him 2019 Josh Rosen. Makes no sense. Kinda like those comparisons.
