No, he's a game manager...at best.  We get to see next year. I think he's about hit his ceiling.

If he completes his passes at a high percentage and does not turn the ball over, then whats the problem with being a "game manager".

That's basically a QBs job, anyways. Taking the chances on big plays when its appropriate and the rewards outweigh the risk.

It can be argued that the best names were so successful because of how well they managed the offense. Mahomes, Brady, Manning.

Gunslingers like Favre, Winston, and Mayfield are super fun to watch and can be big play making, crowd-go-wild fun. They also tend to make extremely EXTREMELY stupid plays that lead to turnovers, putting defenses in poor positions repeatedly, and super frustrating unnecessary turnovers that cause the team to lose.

here we go again comparing Bryce Young to some NFL legendary Qb's .you can't just disregard his other 70% of bad games & get a true & factual picture of who Bryce Young really is as a Qb

& what happens when Bryce Young plays a defense like the Cardinals & performs above average &  then when̈ he plays a good defense like the Cowboys well he looks like an entirely different Qb.

that's the thing with Bryce Young there is no consistency in his game & more often than not there is way more bad than good performances .

so just saying is there enough good to ignore the bad ?

i mean if you do not think any of this makes any sense then look no further than around the league at  Qb's like Jameis Winston for example who yes has had some really good games in the past but at the same time Jamèis Winston is still a below average Qb who is very inconsistent & throws alot of interceptions

My friend is a Bears fan and sent me a video of Williams' TD throw to Allen today.

My response was simply: "Young can't make that throw" - and that's ultimately the problem.

Yes

for the team, the fans, the franchise, the other players and for Young himself, glad he looks good ..Glad he doesn’t look crushed   glad he is improving

this franchise has so many needs helped along by poor GM and Owner   We know this  This young needs to be here next year regardless

however, people talk about a speed receiver, as if that changes things…

…if the QB does not have the arm strength for that long pass with sufficient velocity to out pace the closing speed of NFL cornerbacks, that speed receiver won’t do much good, even as a decoy.  I need to see Young be able to do that

…and if he can’t do it, you will see defenses do what Dallas and Parsons did 2 sundays ago

that short arm to an open Thielen in the end zone against Dallas should give everyone pause

jayden Daniels is special…has every tool and the mind needed   Drake Maye might become that too  they both would have gotten that ball to the end zone

when I look at young compared against those….well…the game manager, that needs perfection

not trying to denigrate young or people who support them

Yes and better DL, LB, CB, S, TE, and possibly K in addition to more WRs.   So again, we have to build the entire team around Bryce for him to be _______.  The word I would insert is average.  If it was so easy to plug every hole on the roster in order to prop up a QB, every team would do it, yet how many succeed?

No, we just need better receivers.

What they need is another off-season together to build chemistry.

If, and it’s a big if, XL can improve his hands in the offseason (like Chuba did), that would be a massive improvement to the WR group overall. XL did a really good job with route running and getting open to his year which was something I didn’t expect.

Really excited to see XL, Coker, and JT after a full NFL offseason + strength & conditioning.

So bummed for JB... he looked like he belonged in limited action. Got a feeling we'll see him start on the PUP again and maybe even err on the side of caution by shutting him down for the year after the 21 day window. Same ACL tear two years in a row for an RB doesn't exactly give the good feels... 😞

The checkdowns to Hubbard and more scrambles are exactly what he needs to do to get defenses more on their heels. These last two weeks should be a force feed to XL gameplan to see if he’s a WR1. I wouldn’t even risk playing Chuba

Him and JT Sanders and coker

the thing that might be somewhat overlooked here is this:  Canales may indeed be the QB whisperer.  I don't see Bryce improving without him.  That is pretty important in the long term.

Did Bryce improve or did Bryce just get back to being Bryce. Same can be said about Geno and Baker. Let’s just not forget these were top level prospects.

What I’ve seen from Canales has been on the psychological side more than the physical side. We’ve seen these guys be talented

Bryce is such an enigma. There aren't many QBs who have been as bad as he has and revived their career without changing franchises. His play lately has been mostly high level. All we can do is hope it continues.

But at the same time, it's hard to forget that there is a very very bad QB in there somewhere. His play is such a contradiction that it's hard to square him as a player.

Geno was a seasoned veteran that had never really looked particularly respectable as a starter.

Bryce has basically one decent game in a sea of putrid awfulness.  He was on his way out of the league - and imo, Canales role in his improvement is even more clear given the start of the season.

I'd say that Canales helped them both a lot. Baker is harder to say all things considered.

    • Sttoud was terrible yesterday, inaccurate. Taking too many hits really does affect one’s  confidence and composure.  I still think he’s already proven what he can be but it also shows what a fine line it is when you don’t have your weapons like Tank Dell or don’t trust your protection. He will bounce back    btw, How this Texans team is in the playoffs is mind boggling
    • I would say you gotta add an "if" to XL. For brooks we can't say oh TD came back from 3 ACL injuries, brooks can do it. It just isn't that easy. Especially if we select a running back late this draft with it being s deep RB class. He won't play much in 2025 if he even plays at all, tough road ahead but i hope he comes back and proves the pick right. right now though unfortunately our first and second round picks don't seem to be trending in the right direction. Brooks more than XL, but XL still has a lot to prove. Hasn't had the best year, though his route running is somewhat better than expected. He is still raw and we knew that prior to the draft.
