If you're watching the games, and you should be, you can see that we need help on defense more than anything else right now. Bryce is showing incredible growth as a QB and I wouldn't stop that growth right now when Edge, LB and DT are so desperately needed.

 

we need a defensive heavy draft. 

I'm still on the double up Carter train.  Penn St Carter in the 1st and Clemson Carter in the 2nd. Front 7 players.  Maybe corner in the 3rd.

If the wheels had come off / the Cowboys game had been a return to bad, and we'd lost out to the point we could draft Sanders or Ward, maybe, but we need defense no matter what and frankly we'll be in a good position for it this draft. Bryce has played us out of a different QB.

QB isn't our biggest need for once, but there's still a question mark on long term. We'll see how he does next year, hopefully with some competition in camp, ideally with an improved defense.

I will not say he looks like a franchise qb yet. But yes to me he looks better than the career back ups of the league and some of the low level starters. 

To me right now hes a top 20 qb with the potential to be more but hes not there yet. But I'm optimistic if he keeps improving he has the potential to be our franchise qb.

The kid is night and day different from last year and the first 2 games of this year. Now hes fun to watch

Bryce has played well enough for us to have won 4 of the last 5 games, mostly against playoff teams.

He's is trending towards being a viable long-term starter you can build around.

This was what this season was supposed to be about, even if it didn't transpire in a straightforward fashion.

This message board sometimes tends towards an echo chamber. Very, very few Panthers fans outside this place are emotionally invested in Bryce failing. 

The vast majority of non-basement dwelling members of Panthers Nation are happy with the way this franchise is trending and actually root for this franchise (and its players) to succeed.

There are still plenty of irrational Bryce haters that will never be happy with anything, but for fans with objectivity (and for the coaches and exes that actually know football), Bryce is starting to look like the phenom he was at Alabama.

Should he be immune from competition next year? No

Should he go into next season as QB1? Absolutely 

A lot of delusional pessimists on this board are going to be dragging their knuckles in consternation when Bryce and Andy are our QBs again next year.

And most of Panthers Nation outside of perennially upset incels on here will look forward to 2025.

Happy to see Bryce get better--until we have a top 10 QB, however, you keep shopping.  He has until we find someone better to prove himself. If he lessens the need, he extends his longevity.  That is how it is for all NFL players.

That guy is a troll. I said this yesterday this fanbase feeds off hate. Actively rooting for a QB to fail just so it can prove your point is weird.

 

At this point I'm questioning are some of these people even Panthers fans or just Panthers haters. This kid has been a different QB since the benching. He's improving with a limited roster around him. Damn people be happy.

      It was great that Brady was able to step in as our center on short notice... but center overall needs addressing this offseason.  Getting worked up about the QB has been a Huddle tradition since I've joined almost 20 years ago. Jake Delhomme is not a franchise QB. Start Chris Weinke. David Carr will push Jake. David Carr crumbles at the slighest sniff of pressure. Matt Moore may be the future. Matt Moore doesn't care about being the starter. Clausen is a limp pickle. Cam can't win close games. Cam can't throw an accurate pass. Cam should've dived on that fumble. Cam should've not gone after that Chargers player and hurt his shoulder. Teddy can't throw past the sticks. Darnold's a dumbass. Mayfield can't throw a pass without it being batted down. In other words, I can't get that worked up nowadays because I've heard most of it before already. I will say BY's getting more of the Jake Delhomme Huddle hot takes now, which I'll take as a positive improvement from where he was before.

      I'm usually pro tank in situations like these. Like when Rhule was fired, I wanted us to tank hard and trade anybody worth a damn and just continue losing. I also wanted us to tank that last Saints game in like 2020 I wanna say to get a better pick. However, this year just seems different. I feel like we have something with this coaching staff and building some culture and personality. At some point you really do have to figure out how to win close games. This year feels like that year when Cam and Co just kept losing close games and went like 6-10. Then the following year we just showed out. And like others have said, we've been so ass at drafting that it has changed my whole mindset about wanting to tank and lose games. Fug that, I just want a win wherever I can get it now. Yesterday felt great!

      At this point I'm indifferent to wins/losses and solely interested in seeing team and staff development on the field. In general, growing teams need to stay mindful when winning certain types of games to not let it mask continued on-field deficiencies, whatever they may be for a given team. That's where the quality of the coaching and FO come in and that's where the rubber will continue to meet the road if Carolina pulls out more of these types of games. This season is nearly a wrap. My metric for success was continued improvement and development on the field and I think it's fair to say that that is happening (degree is debatable, but it is happening), a stark change from prior regimes. Improving this offseason will be no small order and time will tell how things shake out.
