Games to Watch this Sunday (Monitoring Draft Position)

TLDR: Many of the top teams on the draft board are playing games that they have some small chance of winning this Sunday.

First I'll start with the obvious. Carolina is currently 3-11 and 5th on the draft board as of right now. We're set to play the Cardinals at home for our 3rd to last game of the season. We close against Tampa and Atlanta. We've had some pretty key injuries lately, we could win or lose any of these games IMO.

Vegas and NYG are currently in 1st/2nd place currently being the only 2 loss teams in the NFL and looking particularly hapless on 10 and 9 win losing streaks, respectively.

New England, Jacksonville, Carolina, Tennessee, and Cleveland all have 3 wins.  With the Bears and Jets being right behind those two with 4 wins.

The Raiders (#1 team)  play the Jaguars (#4 team) on Sunday 12.22 at 4:25PM in Las Vegas. I believe we would want the Jaguars to win. But the Raiders winning raises the slim chances of us getting a top 3 pick. Kind of a wash in terms of what we'd want.

Giants are playing ATL on Sunday. Obviously we'd want the Giants to win. Atlanta is bit of a wildcard with a rookie QB starting his first game, but the Giants are so bad I fully expect them to lose. They finish the season with the Colts and the Eagles. At least the Falcons and Colts they probably have some tiny chance of winning lol.

New England is playing Buffalo at 4:25PM on Sunday 12.22. The Patriots have a brutal closing schedule of Buffalo, LA Chargers, and Buffalo again. I'd fully expect them to not win another game.

Tennessee is playing the Colts on Sunday. And closing the season against Jacksonville and Houston. so 3 straight divisional games to close the year for them. Crucially they've benched Will Levis so that could propel them to more wins.

Browns play the Bengals on Sunday, and close with  the Dolphins and Ravens.  Tough schedule, but they did just bench Jameis Winston for DTR. No idea how good of a QB he is.

Hoping we can get to that #3 spot because that would guarantee us Hunter.

I think it's obvious Vegas and NY are going QB at those top 2 spots. Get Hunter at #3 and start building this defense around Brown/Horn/Hunter.

only problem with that is our 2nd round pick is gonna be so low due to the Rams doing well. All of the A-B tier pass rushers will probably be off the board unless we trade up a little it R2

Yeah, but Hunter is the best defensive player in the draft imo.

I don't believe in drafting for need with a top 5 pick. I always go BPA with a top 5 pick.

Giants will want a QB, so I'm good with them being above us.  Same with Raiders.  NE is worrisome because they have their QB.  Hopefully they go OL or WR for him.  I want our choice of edge in the top 5.

NE will take Hunter if they pick top 3.

The Raiders play the Jags. They could legitimately win that. Let's also hope that Penix has some serious rookie jitters against the Giants.

The Raiders are dumb enough to draft Sanders. The Giants are probably smart enough to draft Ward.

My dream scenario would be being able to draft Cam Ward and trade Bryce for whatever we can get.

Oddly one of the very few things Hurney understood versus too many of our GM's.

Not to mention this is a weak DE/EDGE draft. I generally feel the odds of drafting a bust at that position in the top 5 are going to be far higher than normal. Which, obviously we would nail the bust.

I don't think it matters who has the #3 pick Hunter is definitely going to said team at #3. He's the top rated prospect in the entire draft.

First team that does not have to have a QB....

I think Bryce would really have to crap his pants over the last 3 weeks for that to happen. And/or Dave Canales pull some Matt Rhule wizard magic on Tepper.
