Panthers Made the top 5 on an ESPN List...

thats not even remotely true

A bit premature to make that call.  Stroud had an incredible rookie season, but this year he has been an average to below average starting QB in virtually every relevant metric, other than being 9-5 with a Top 5-10 defense, in an awful division.  Year 3 will be telling to see if he looks more like Rookie CJ or Sophomore CJ.  If it's Sophomore CJ...then trading the haul that we did for a statistically middle-of-the-road starting QB doesn't seem worth it...?

47 sacks with 3 games to go.   His line is really bad.   But somehow they are sitting at 9 wins and going to win their division.  Some qbs can overcome adversity

Yet he has the 5th most time in the pocket out of any QB this season.  Sometimes QBs hold the ball too long.

yeah, he's trying to make too much happen.  He has the same pocket time this year as last year (and same as BY in 2023).  One of BY's biggest improvements was how fast he was getting the ball out.

"Moore has been hot and cold..."

And this is what I and others were trying to tell some of y'all all along. I remember last year, @frankw, when you were trying to clown me after the Moore's 200+ yard game. Well, predictably, that was an anomaly

Now I'm not in any way saying that he isn't a good receiver, and, yes, it was an ill-advised move to trade him by really any measure. But, he's probably a top 20 or 25 receiver like he's basically always been.

Yeah, I'm not always right, but listen sometimes.

DJ Moore wouldn't be saving this Bryce Young led offense. Still it was a stupid thing to do to trade our best WR by far for a small QB with a so so arm at best. Stroud was the only one worth what we gave up and I said so at the time but many many people wouldn't hear a word of it.

But it's all water under the bridge. DJ Moore is a Bear and all that mess there is his problem.

We need legitimate competition at QB at bare minimum this offseason. And bring in another offensive weapon for whomever the QB may be next season.

I honestly don't get Lance at #1. He was taken in the covid draft, the trade up was really dumb but they also identified the issue and still traded him away while easily replacing him with a placeholder who still was good enough to get into a SB. That team has stayed a playoff team until this year and they still have double the wins of the Panthers while failing in 2024. Lance should have been #5 and move everything else up one spot. All the other moves crippled those teams from those decisions. Hell Urban had more of a negative impact than the Lance debacle on their teams.

Watson above Wilson without doubt. The guaranteed money and poo show around Watson makes it no contest IMO.

#6 was Jax hiring Urban Meyer.

Rounding out the bottom 4:

  • 49ers trading for Lance
  • Jets Trading for Rodgers
  • Broncos trading for and then extending Wilson
  • Browns trading for and extending Watson

Literally everything some of us have been saying for basically 2 seasons now, but we are haters. Proof that the fanboys are being delusional and weird.

Not sure who you mean by this, I agree it's a terrible trade and have always said that.

At the same time, as someone who went to business school I understand the concept of a sunk cost.

You have to ignore what you paid for Bryce and evaluate him for what he is or could be going forward and whether that fits your strategic plans for the organization.

Bryce was a huge goof, but we're basically done paying for it after this upcoming offseason cycle.  The big contracts really hurt.

You don't have to go to business school to understand the concept of a sunk cost lol

    • If that's the lineman they had a couple years ago, he's put on weight
    • I'm honestly surprised Coker and Sanders are high on YAC stats. Is that an average or a total number? Seems our receivers only run after the catch on broken plays by the defense. This particular issue has very little to do with Bryce as it was consistent when Dalton played as well. Also think Canales has been the best OC we've had in awhile with scheming guys open. They still don't really do anything with it. Just no ability to make guys miss or run away from defenders. It's pretty sad when Bryce Young is the most elusive player on your offense. He ain't remotely a Cam or Lamar or even Mahomes. Agree that Bryce needs to put more velocity on some of his passes though. I think he generally takes some off because he's trying to throw with such anticipation. You can't frill a pass before a guy even gets to his break, so I get that. Less room for error. But there are plenty of times he just nonchalantly passes the ball when he should be rifling it in. He can do it. He does do it. Just not every time he needs to.
