Why are we talking about Bo Nix?

because we like nothing more in here but to torture ourselves by reminding ourselves about how miserable we are as fans, sometimes by reminding ourselves of how better off other teams are.

when we get poison oak, we scratch it like crazy because we like to keep ourselves miserable and make it as bad as possible.

we choose to dwell on being miserable.

For all the stat nerds who are mad at Bryce Young for not single-handedly lifting the Panthers and their fantasy team to the top of something...

And @rayzor hit the nail on the head.  We are probably one of the most miserable fan bases in the NFL.  Admittedly, we don't have a lot to be happy about.  When there's a remote ray of sunshine, we have to immediately point out how much worse we are and better everyone else is.  It's almost a knee jerk, instinctual reaction at this point!

It's best to just take these remaining games as what they are. We aren't playing for anything. It's just more experience for the young guys.

At the same time we should be able to acknowledge things and not constantly trying to run cover to make any one player look better. I mean we can sit here and talk about how stats are misleading all we want but while we're on the subject Nix is meh at best as a rookie QB but he has 1,444 more yards than our second year QB in only 4 more starts. Our offense is and has been limited with Young at QB. Reality is reality.

Granted its still early in the morning, but would you mind enlightening me how posting bo nix stats is a ray of sunshine for us?  Thats a bit of a headscratcher to me

Same reason you posted Young's record.  I know you've been anti Young for a multitude of reasons.  We can agree we just won't see eye to eye and that's all good to me.

You have seen how anytime we have the slightest bit of forward momentum there are the "what-abouts" that come out of the woodwork.  Nix looked good throwing short and having explosive play makers.  How many "tough" throws did he have to make?  Some people on this board will use moments like last night to prove how wrong we were, if we had only drafted Nix instead!  (or any other QB!).

My point with Bryce and the past two years is that context matters more so than the end result.  I'm a teacher.  If a 10th grade kid comes in the fall with a 4th grade reading level, and ends the year reading at an 8th grade level - that's a HUGE F'in win!  In one year, teachers and the kid (and family) worked really hard to improve.  He still fails the reading exam because it's written for a 10th grade reading level.  The result is still a big L on the ole NC Report Card, but that kid grew like crazy.

To circle back (look, my caffeine hasn't hit yet, and the kids who can't be trusted at home are sugar high and ready to get home...haha) the OP's point is that stats are relative.  Nix can throw short balls all night to playmakers and have a nice stat line in a loss.  Bryce doesn't have the playmakers nor the game planning of Sean Peyton to have that kind of stuff stat sheet games.

God, I'm tired =P  This is probably a poor answer, but that's all I have for this Friday before Winter Break here.

    • His line is bad this year, but not as bad as ours last year. His scheme is also bad this year, but still not as bad as ours this year. We had multiple offensive schemes frankenstein'd into the abomination that was last year. His weapons are fine this year, even with injuries. Our weapons from last year have combined for something like 150 total yards across the league so far this season. Stroud is still better. I won't argue that. But jesus, last year was just so absolutely putrid across the board, Fitt should be hired again just so we can fire him again.
    • Only way "Going to get your guy" makes sense is if you fall ass backwards into a ton of high picks and use those picks to get the guy. For example, if we somehow land a top 2 or 3 pick and a QB desperate team wants to trade up with us so they can take Ward or Sanders, I say we take it. Get a pick for next year. Then in the 2026 draft you have two firsts to either use to draft a replacement QB for Bryce OR use the two picks in the trade package to move up and draft a guy. Then you aren't hampering your team for years and can still continuously build around the rookie using the draft.
    • ... We have one of the best OLs in football this year. Last year was bad, sure, but the Texans had nearly as bad an OL and are terrible this year, and that was with competent QB play behind them lol. If the Texans haven't ruined Stroud, how would we? Stroud took an abysmally bad Texans team and they're a playoff team now
