Fix Your Franchise: Carolina Panthers

Recommended Posts

This is an awesome breakdown by PFF of what the Panthers should do in the off season from who to cut, who to keep, cap space, free agent signings, and even including a 4 round mock draft. It's a long watch at 1 hour and 30 mins but they gave very good and detailed analysis of the team from strengths to weaknesses.

Quick Summary:

-need defense help all over the place. Only players worth keeping is Horn, Brown, and Clowney. They name drop realistic free agents on the D-line like Hoyt, Hurst, maybe Khalil Mack. They love signing safety Hufanga from SF as our enforcer in the back end.

-on offense, they think Chris Godwin would be a slam dunk given familiarity with Canales, but think Godwin would command a lot of money. They think it'll take 30+ mill per year to get Higgins and he would likely be overpaid. Pats might sign Higgins at that money.

-Draft wise, dream pick would be Mason Graham but given mock sim he went to Pats. So they pick Abdul Carter. These guys do a lot of research on college prospects and utilize PFF grades to see their value. They pick DT in 2nd, LB in 3, WR in 4th, and another DL in 4th.

Overall pretty cool analysis and I would not be upset if the off season went like this.

THANKS FOR THE SUMMARY.

Pretty entertaining and they made some good points about the existing roster and potential free agent moves. I feel like they didn't really work their FA / Draft  picks through the schemes that Canales and Evero play so I think that part is of limited value. The FA money sounded dead on at 45 - 60 and it was a  thorough eval of talent and needs. I also believe that this will be a defense heavy draft if it falls to us.
