More Panthers sign tenders

With the rules around the opted out CBA, it makes it virtually impossible to negotiate a long-term deal for this type of player.

Not necessarily for Davis. He is not under contract being an RFA. The CBA, based on what I have read, says that any contract negotiated from a capped to uncapped year can't go up more than 30% from year to year. So to extend a contract like Williams or Kalil where the base salary for 2010 was so low and to stay within the 30% rule most all the money would have to paid out in signing bonuses or roster bonuses.

But for a player like Thomas who isn't under contract, he is still under the 30% rule but the starting number for his contract in 2010 won't be based on what he earned in 2009 and can start anywhere so it wouldn't be hard to sign him without having to guarantee everything up front or give him a huge signing bonus.
