Typical Panther fan listing a bunch of no bodies other than CMC who got hurt that year so he was a moot inclusion and DJ Moore who was also wasted and actually had his best year in CHI b/c ofc.

Robby Anderson lol or should we say Robbie "Chosen" PAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH
Chosen for the bench I guess what a joke

Nobodies? Lol Moore

And Mccaffrey was healthy that first season, so your saying Teddy can make Robbie look good but Sam couldn’t?

I suspect that schematically with darnold it was just too much out of the gate. Darnold was a multi sport athlete all through high school and just didn’t have a lot of reps coming into the nfl. Most QBs these days are going to summer qb camps in middle school. Darnold was closer to the old school qb who’s just the best athlete around and plays a ton of other sports. I think that’s really one of the most under appreciated factors that have led to an improvement in qb play; these guys are doing this as a full time job from the age of like 13. Obviously the jets were a horrible situation, and he came right into a worse one. And then CMC got hurt. In an ideal world, darnold would have been the guy that sat for a year or so but the current nfl is what it is.

when they brought in mayfield Rhule did this fuged up college style “every position is an open competition” and split reps in training camp. That is not fuging what you do in the nfl. Mayfield was coming off injury on a team that was falling apart and they just needed to make him the starter right away.

I suspect there was some division in the building and were some darnold advocates and they were obviously right. I think at the end of the day Rhule was just an idiot and a charlatan and I say that as someone who was initially excited about the hire. I fully admit I was wrong about that.

The panthers absolutely should have just rolled with darnold and Wilks in 2023 but that’s a dead horse.

darnold did exactly what he needed to do in 2023; sat on the bench, got his head straight, and now he’s thriving. I honestly would not hate us going start him for 2025.

mayfield I think is a pure vibes qb. He got healthy, got into a good situation, and is thriving. He was never going to be a good Mcadoo qb. When he was in NY it was widely reported he ran the most complex offense in the nfl. Lots of read routes that relied on the qb and wr being on the exact same page, and it’s really a feather in Eli’s cap he was able to do well under it.

mayfield is not a smart guy, I don’t know what else to say. He cheated in his wife with a girl he met on tinder in Cheesecake Factory parking lot.

he’s got the juice though, and you just let him play football and he thrives. That’s what they’re doing with him in Tampa. Also he has to get sacked and injured every game before he starts playing well.

so in conclusion…

darnold: needed to sit, should have been resigned, thriving.

mayfield: needed to get healthy, needed vibes, needed a dumbed down playbook, thriving

panthers: relegate us to the ACC

    • I'm honestly surprised Coker and Sanders are high on YAC stats. Is that an average or a total number? Seems our receivers only run after the catch on broken plays by the defense. This particular issue has very little to do with Bryce as it was consistent when Dalton played as well. Also think Canales has been the best OC we've had in awhile with scheming guys open. They still don't really do anything with it. Just no ability to make guys miss or run away from defenders. It's pretty sad when Bryce Young is the most elusive player on your offense. He ain't remotely a Cam or Lamar or even Mahomes. Agree that Bryce needs to put more velocity on some of his passes though. I think he generally takes some off because he's trying to throw with such anticipation. You can't frill a pass before a guy even gets to his break, so I get that. Less room for error. But there are plenty of times he just nonchalantly passes the ball when he should be rifling it in. He can do it. He does do it. Just not every time he needs to.
    • This guy was apparently such a pain in the arse the Panthers were justifiably desperate to get rid of him for a $5 dollar footlong. Morgan looking like a genius now with this latest news.
