Cams 2015 was the best season form either. Just call that a 10 perfect season. Allen has had waaaaaay more 9s, and 8s along with winning record in back2back seasons....... Allen got a good shot at winning the MVP this year, like Cams 2015 he didn't have much help and dominated

Honestly each passing season Allen is pulling away.....

Plus malhomes factor, Allen may have 2 rings and SBMVPs if not for Andy Reid magic....

Oh shittt!

He brought back the F150 talk lol. I think my first ban came from using that lingo. The crazy thing is I still have no idea what it means lol.

Speaking of pickup trucks I think I'm going to Nissan Titan next year. My Ram stays in the shop more than my 2010 Camry smh. Brand new truck but comes with hella problems. They say the Titan V8 is the most reliable of all the big brands.

Titan is discontinued after 24 model year, poor sales.

Bills need to dump Brady to get over the hump and get a ring.  JB got outcoached in a big way.  Personnel packages at critical times and play calling were head scratchers.

The two are very different players.

Cam was more refined as a passer coming out of college but never truly elevated his game beyond that (which was fine, he was a very good passer) and the same inconsistencies kept creeping up on him. Injuries changed his career, especially those two Denver games, and it sucks but it is what it is. I don't like the narrative he only had one elite season, he had multiple elite seasons and one of the best seasons by a QB ever.

Josh has had to refine his mechanics completely and has become a brilliant passer compared to where he was entering the league. I think he is more consistently dominant than Cam was but has yet to really reach that peak, though it's not THAT far off.

It's okay to appreciate both players for what they were/are without nagging on the other. Both should go in the Hall of Fame.

Stop. He was an elite passer in 2015.

Not in the NFL he wasn't - maybe the CFL.

59.8% completion rate - 28th rank

2.0 INT % - 20th rank

99.4 Passer Rate - 7th rank

61.4 QBR - 11th rank

7.1 TD % - 1st rank

His passing was not "elite" in any category that year other than TD's - which has more to do with field position & momentum than anything.  These stats aren't cherry picked either - everything else is relative to the # of passes he had - if I include them he ranks lower unfairly.  There are the best stats to assess passing.

Comparing 2 seasons - if a QB throws the same # of passes, for the same amount of yardage, with the same comp % - what makes one season have 22 TDs and one have 35 TDs?  The answer is extremely clear - FIELD POSITION.  More of the passes were on a shorter field - the QB is the same and playing the same way - his passes just had a higher likelihood of being a TD instead of just yardage.

in 2015 the Panthers were #1 in drives ending in a turnover for the defense and #2 for average starting field position.  That is the reason for the TD's.  Cam was the same mediocre passer every season.  He was never an elite passer for a full year - a game here and there sure, but never consistent

There's a lot of truth to this, but I do see them as the same prototype of player. Josh just seems to be the next step along that line.

Cam was a bit more physically gifted, to be honest, and I think he continued to rely on it more and more, rather than developing his passing and defense reading skill set. Josh, like you said, devoted more to developing that side of his game. That being said, if you listen to Cam breaking down tape, he's an incredibly knowledgeable QB, but I think Josh has benefited even more from mentorship from more experienced coaching.

And yeah, both will eventually be HoF inductees. Just hoping Josh doesn't end up with the Marino entry... gold jacket, no rings.

I think the best way to compare the two is imagining them dropped as rookies into the same situation…

Cam with a franchise that valued protecting the quarterback and surrounding him with weapons?

Allen with a franchise that rolled out Byron Bell and Matt Kalil as the cornerstones for protection? Devin Funchess and Kelvin Benjamin, Philly Brown, Brenton Bersin?

They’re both great players; Cam was just so physically dominant, and Rivera so locked into the stoneage of NFL philosophy, that Cam was the crutch that covered so many weaknesses.

In today’s game, if I’m starting a franchise with either a rookie Allen or a rookie Cam, I’m taking Cam 100 out of 100 times. Allen is a great great player but with a competent franchise Cam could have been up there in the goat discussion.

Stats are stats but watch the games and notice how we constantly asked Cam to make the toughest throws in football. Shula's offense was all about slow developing downfield routes and our receivers largely couldn't separate which means a lot of downfield passes to covered receivers - i.e. the toughest throws in football.

When Norv came along with more of the dink and dunk routes that make up the majority of modern NFL passing game all of a sudden Cam was in the high 60s just like Norv said he would be.
