Both big QB's who are/were tough to take down. Both had accuracy issues that became much better. Cam made a SB. Allen has not.

At their best, who are you taking as the franchise QB?

This is an easy answer IMO - it's Josh Allen and it isn't close.  Prime Cam was still a below average passer every single year.  I can guarantee you no one other than a Panther fan would even see this as a conversation.

Cam Newton always struggled with his accuracy at times but he often threw straight up dimes in his prime don't get it twisted and start making things up folks.

You can tell which posters have a different criteria to judge a QB on and it has nothing to do with anything on the field.

This is insane.  He was not a POOR thrower.

I'll give you that Allen is a better passer at this stage.  But your comment is extremely controversial and an insult to him.

Dude its not an insult... he was a professional QB.. We are allowed to pick out his flaws.

I watched literally every game Cam ever played for us. I loved the dude... but lets not forget that he was a bottom half passer in the league almost every year.

Cam could throw 50+ yards on a rope... but he also threw his 5 yard in routes like that as well.

I think the only year I saw him start to throw with touch was the year that he got hurt. That was the only year that I saw a legit improvement in his passing game.

He threw a better deep ball than most QB's but the short and intermediate that required touch, timing and placement he struggled with - his entire career.

That is not saying he never threw with touch or timing. He was a professional QB... but compared to the rest of the league, he was not an elite thrower.

Josh has had the better coaching staff and team to help him. Cam was the team.

Cam was never a good passer but 2015 was epic. He never cared to be a passer because as he's stated before, he was a football player who happened to play QB. I miss him as QB1.

Always had a top defense. Always had a strong running game. STFU with your bullshit.

Allen. He is going to break all of Cam's records. And by "Cam's records", I mean the ones people use to say Cam was so great/different. But Allen has more tools than that. You won't hurt your Panther fandom to admit Allen is a better QB.

Allen is a much better version of Cam, I agree. Most anyone can see that.

It's likely that if the refs make the correct call on that 4th down, or even the catch/no catch, that the Bills win that game. I don't think the NFL is "fixing" games but reffing inconsistencies certainly steer them.

The Bills allowed one second half touchdown and it just happened to come on a short field following that horrendous spot on 4th down where the side judge without a view of the ball overrode the other judge who had a view of the ball. That was going to end up being the 4th quarter drive similar to the Ravens game where the Bills just milked the clock down to 2 every snap.

NFL got what it wanted: Taylor Swift in the Super Bowl

On a side note, I am almost done with this league, and maybe even the sport the way college football is going. Industries do not leave billions of dollars up to chance. Gambling will have an impact on games, at some point, whether people want to admit it or not.

His rookie year the defense gave up the fifth most yards in the league. That was not a top unit by any means.

2012 the defense trended toward middle of the pack. 2013-2015 were the best years.

As far as the running game in Carolina we had talented backs but if I recall Jonathan Stewart was the only one to hit 1k rushing yards and he did that only the one time. But it cannot be understated that in short yardage situations Cam was getting the ball. At one point he was damn near the best in the league at it.

I will say as far as 2015 goes it's important to note that even as good as that years defense was we won numerous very close games.

Idk why these discussions have to bring about such sourness. Those were some of the best years in franchise history and Cam Newton regardless of how anyone may feel about him personally was a jolt of much needed life to what was at that time a rudderless franchise. We didn't know how good we had it. That's all that needs to be said.

I don't think you remember how good Cam was for us. Cam wasn't carried by the defense or the running game. He wasn't perfect by any means, but there were plenty of times where he was the only source of offense, and plenty of times where he had to bail out the defense when they weren't doing well. He was for us from 2011-2019 what 89 was for the 2002-2011 teams.

Stop. He was an elite passer in 2015.
