Officially Eliminated from Playoffs

Recommended Posts

The Team is officially eliminated from playoff contention.

Do you predict any changes to the game day philosophy or starters now?

IMO, this should be tryout time for possible future players. Would also love to see a reduction in carries for Chuba. He is signed long term and we need to save his legs. What do y'all think?

nah, we are still trying to develop and grow Bryce Young.  You can't shelf Hubbard out of fear of injury.  You bench Hubbard and the run game goes backwards.  Run game goes backwards, everything goes backwards.

One game shouldn't change anything.  Bryce had 2 bad fumbles that fugged this game up in reality.  That shouldn't erase what this team was doing with him and what he has been doing in the big picture.

I feel like once we lost to the Bucs in OT we were out. I just want to see XL, Coker, and Sanders to get as many reps as possible. Also if Wallace comes back let him have the green dot perhaps. He had it for a week earlier in the season.

If anything you bench guys who you know won't be here next year, for contract reasons or age reasons (Clowney?) and see if there's any young guys who can stick around. Otherwise nothing to change. Roll Bryce out there and make him throw the ball.

I think our defense is so very bad we need to keep everyone capable out there. Clowney has been a bright spot.  We can rotate young guys in but those dudes aren't getting play time cause they're not very good atm

    • I didn't follow Lewis before he joined our team. I had no idea he played Center. If your scenario were tried we'd have a solid interior with Icky, Lewis, and Hunt. Moton at RT, and I'm assuming Brady at LT. That wouldn't be a bad line-up when you think about.  Unfortunately, I don't see Brady sticking around when his contract expires. I think he's going to want to compete for a starting job elsewhere or at minimum serve as a swing lineman on a winning team. Your idea could necessitate finding a solid LT this off-season in the draft or via free agency...and solid LT's don't grow on trees.
    • Poverty franchise. Non-existent defense, offense that plays well against terrible defense, and collapses against decent to good defense in most cases. Inconsistent QB who is way undersized. Good o-line. Overall roster talent level - low. Results: 3 - 12. There is no quick way out of this mess. We need a #1 WR, and many positions on defense. The scheme is just not working and we need to get out of the 3-4 forever. Outside of Horn the entire secondary should be upgraded over time. Our safeties are not good at passing off coverage because they're just not that bright, so the deep pass is a real problem. We need a #2CB so we don't get eaten alive by the star WRs of the NFL who move to the opposite side of Horn. We can't let them go off on our trash DBs. Up front on defense we're in nightmare territory. Outside of Clowney we don't have linemen who can catch any QB in the NFL even if the QB is running at half speed. Even the slowest QB in the NFL running at half speed would have no trouble avoiding our d-line. And what we lack in speed what don't make up for in strength, and to complicate the problem we're playing 3-4. And when we rush 4 nothing happens. Nothing. Get out of the 3-4. No more. 3-4 only works if you have a monster ogre NT and two werewolves on either side, and athletic OLBs who can fly to the QB. We don't have that and we can't acquire all of that. Go to 4-3. We have Brown at DT, draft another pass rushing DT, and draft a DE to pair with Clowney. Now you have a decent front 4 that can pressure the QB and hold up against the run. What we have now is slow fat blobs and Clowney. Also Brown would be better served playing a DT in a 4-3 than NT or DE in a 3-4 imo. Brown and Clowney are best suited for DT and DE in a 4-3 imo.
