Who replaces Evero?

He had a top 5 Defense in San Diego as the DC and it took him 8 years to be hired as a head coach.  Junior Seau and company--there has to be a reason.  When I talked to him at OTAs, he was not impressive.  Remember, he made the comment about being a left handed left tackle and some of his game management decisions were super stupid--and with Cam Newton at QB, he never had back to back winning seasons.  Now take Mike Tomlin--he has never had a losing season--Kenny Pickett, etc.  at QB.  That is a coach.

Ron is a great guy...but as a coach, hes really stoneheaded....in an old school way. He squandered 2 hall of famers careers at the same time...

My top 3 are:

  • Robert Saleh
  • Lovie Smith
  • Leslie Frazier

However realistically I think the Top 3 are:

  • Ken Norton Jr.
  • Aaron Curry
  • Kacy Rodgers

Norton did a better job than Clint Hurtt in his time as DC in Seattle. He at least had a Top 10 unit a few times. Curry is a promising candidate and has a lot of upside. I think Kacy Rodgers is underestimated as well. He has developed a lot of young players and the one spot on Tampa's D that hasn't fallen backwards is their DL/Run D.

I was on the Frazier bandcamp too until I saw this, as well as a reddit thread reviewing his defense as very vanilla. His defenses rank high though, but not glowing reviews from his former players apparently:

My dark horse/long shot hope: Todd Bowles. There were headlines about him being in the hot seat all summer, and seems like he's in a playoffs or bust situation from what I've read. I think the Bucs would be dumb to let him go, but if they do make a foolish move, we should sweep him up in a heartbeat. His defenses are always nasty and aggressive and ranking in the single digits, when he's the coordinator. Plus Canales would be comfortable with having him around. Just my two cents.

I think Evero is coming back for one more season. He’s been coaching with a group of practice squad players most of the season. His top draft pick since he arrived here is a 3rd round line backer. This is the draft they get him some help.

Yep he’s playing with 4th string and practice squad players and we expect him to stop the run lol
