Am I really supposed to believe Rivera was in town just to see what's up? No, he was there for a reason and talking to the owner helps promotes the theory he may be in talks about becoming our new DC. Go back to 4-3, go heavy on the d-line in FA, draft T-Mac to give Young a true #1 receiver, another edge in the 2nd, then go BPA after that. Will Johnson if T-Mac is gone. Horn and Johnson, sheesh.

Sounds great. In theory.

Vrabel seems like a perfect fit for the Browns' job.  Ohio State product, Super Bowl Champion--I see the Browns hiring from within.

Personally, I would like to see Leslie Frazier here.  I think, in today's NFL, your DC needs to be very familiar with the defensive backs.  Horn would become great and if we sign Mike Jackson back, he would be even better.

Curry is my second choice--it depends on the type of Coordinator Canales is looking for....

Not Rivera, please. I just feel that he is not very smart--and I feel that he sacrificed Cam for his own career.  Just me--not looking for affirmation.

I agree on Ron 100%.

Rivera is also very aware of his surroundings and knows how to play office politics. There’s a reason he kept Shula around as long as he did. No head coach wants ron nipping at his heels

qlthough in general I think this team would do better with rivera style football than Canales.

about returning to the 4-3---I think we have the personnel for it--maybe better than the 3-4.

I think our Strong OLB/Edge players would be better in a 4-3 (speculation).   I think we'd need a true MLB, but Jewell and Wallace could provide depth or play outside.  I also think Windom could fit in better as a 4-3 OLB--in college, he played LB and defensive end--could he be a swiss Army knife?  Seriously, add a stud MLB, DT, and Edge/4-3 DE...that is 3 players added to a defensive roster that should improve....

In fairness to Evero--who got exposed by the Dallas Cowboys (do not underestimate the intelligence of McCarthy), he did lose Burns, Action Jackson, Gross-Matos, Shaq, Chinn, Luvu, and Brown from last season to this season--but he was outcoached vs. Dallas.

Just another two seasons of retooling our 3-4 defensive roster for 4-3; all because we never drafted an NT for the 3-4.

To be fair our defense is a thrown together mess.  I wouldn't say we have a lot more players who specifically fit a 34 than a 43.  We've just been throwing stuff at the wall to try to piece something together.

Without an offseason to transfer over we are already better aligned to a 4-3. Wallace would fall in the Will LB role, Jewell in the Sam LB role. We would need to go out there and find a solid Mike LB.

You have your interior guys with Brown and Robinson. Wonnum and Clowney can play 4-3 DE and the DBs don't change much. The only guys left out are Barno and Johnson and we aren't missing much.

This is without a free agency and a draft. It will fall in together nicely after that.

He had a top 5 Defense in San Diego as the DC and it took him 8 years to be hired as a head coach.  Junior Seau and company--there has to be a reason.  When I talked to him at OTAs, he was not impressive.  Remember, he made the comment about being a left handed left tackle and some of his game management decisions were super stupid--and with Cam Newton at QB, he never had back to back winning seasons.  Now take Mike Tomlin--he has never had a losing season--Kenny Pickett, etc.  at QB.  That is a coach.

Our biggest weakness right now is DT/DE in the 3-4. I think we might be better equipped to run the 4-3 than a 3-4 right now.  (Have not given it a lot of thought, but I can put it on paper quickly.)
