Tepper insisted on the 3 4 whrn Ron was here and that defense has sucked ever since

i cant see anyone hiring Evero

i heard a respected pod caster talking about how denver’s defense took a step back when evero was there

he didnt have a lot to work with this year and every team  deals either injuries but for  the love of God, a safety on Lamb…what are you doing

Cardinals could  put up monstrous run yards With Murray alone

add to it, the depleted cowboys gave the scheme of how to beat the panthers offense

add to it, a safety on Harrison jr 😆

Funny fans feel this way because I think he will be one of the hottest candidates for a DC role after us

i THINK PART OF THE PROBLEM IS WE DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT PLAYERS FOR A 3-4 DEFENSE .  THER IS A REASON MOST NFL TEAMS RUN A 4-3 DEFENSE .  WE HAVE ALWAYS RUN A 4-3 UNTIL EVERO CAM IN .  IF HE LEAVES WE NEED TO GET BACK TO WHAT HAS BEEN OUR STRENGHT .

We haven't really had a 4-3 in a while. 2018 was the last season.

  • Capers ran the same 3-4 defense from 95-98.
  • Seifert ran a traditional 4-3. Pete Carroll actually came from his system.
  • Fox ran a 4-3 with both coordinators he had.
  • Ron ran a 4-3 with McDermott and Wilks although their coverages were very different. In 2019 he switched to a 3-4 when Washington was DC.
  • A lot of people think Rhule and Snow ran a 4-3 but it was actually a 3-3-5 and they would flex into a 3-3, 3-4, or 4-3 depending on what Snow drummed up.

But I do agree, and prefer a 4-3 defense.

You guys do realize that there are good and bad 4-3 defenses right? Switching to a 4-3 won't magically make us better . Nostalgia withstanding.

Just another two seasons of retooling our 3-4 defensive roster for 4-3; all because we never drafted an NT for the 3-4.

I do prefer the 4-3 defense and would welcome the switch back to that scheme but it's so much easier to find a 3-4 edge than it is to find a truly dominant 4-3 DE. In the 4-3 defense the pass rush comes from the 4 down lineman on most snaps and unless you have a truly dominant DE or a great DT who can rush the passer then the QB can just pick you apart through the air. The 3-4 allows you to bring pressure on the QB in more ways and it can do well against the run this team just needs to go out and get a true 3-4 NT. With the win last week, we are picking too low to get Abdul Carter so maybe a combo of Mykel Williams in the first followed by Kenneth Grant or Deone Walker in the 2nd to play NT followed by some other bits and pieces elsewhere and we could have a solid unit next season.

    • Peyton Manning had 7k yards and 50 TDs in his first two years What type of QB do you think that is?
    • If you haven't come to terms that Bryce will be our QB next season then you just out of touch with reality.   You got people in the Nat'l media saying Bryce has looked like a better QB than Stroud this year. If that doesn't give you hope I don't know what will.   Draft Tmac and let this kid cook.
    • Current draft order NYG, NE, JAX, TN, CLE, LV, CAR. We need to ask ourselves "what is the biggest need of those teams heading into the draft"? And, "What positions do we know are not major needs for the teams above?" JAX is terrible, but we know they won't be drafting a QB. The Patriots won't be either. The Raiders and Giants definitely need a QB. The Browns have one under contract, but he's been terrible since they signed him. I could see all 3 of them eyeing QB's. Hunter is a wild card. He could be the first player taken. Or, he could slip because some teams may not want to deal with his insistence on playing both ways. A team with a bad O-line may want to go LT TMAC is going to appeal to a team that needs a playmaker at WR. If CB is major need, I could see Will Thomas (or Hunter) coming off the board prior to our selection at #7. It's possible that Graham could fall into our laps. Then again we haven't factored FA into the equation. A lot of these teams will lure some players just because of the large amount of dollars they afford to play them and fix some needs before the draft. It's going to be an interesting off-season.
