Bryce May Not Be the Answer

I would not use the word incompetent. If they make no significant effort to revamp the QB room I would consider it negligence. And it's their jobs on the line not ours.

Lol you’re so delusional you think you’re a better roster evaluator than Morgan and Canales.

Bryce needs a perfect setup to play above average and it happened for a few games.  Any cracks in the overall team dynamic like today, he struggles. I think it's asinine to pour money and resources over all aspects of the team to prop up the QBs level to merely above average.  I'm thinking long term and if this Bryce looks like this again next year, it will be time to move on.

Honestly, our goal for next year needs to be improving other positions and then see what we get from Bryce next year. If he isn't at the very least an above average QB, we draft a QB next year.

I do not claim to be a better evaluator of talent but I can see with my own two eyes this QB room has to change. And just saying but in fairness I wasn't enamored with the notion of trading up into the second round for a running back with a torn ACL but I gave them the benefit of the doubt at the time.

Appreciate the kind words as always NAS. You're so measured and rational.

Oh how much I've seen this same tired line trotted out over the years be it Hurney or Gettleman or whoever. What's the point of a forum for discussing the Panthers if this if attitude is that they're beyond questioning?

We have to upgrade the qb3 position for camp at bare minimum

If Sanders or Ward were to drop to the Panthers somehow (0.01% chance) then I could see that being the move. Otherwise I don't think they go QB.

Bryce's ceiling is Teddy Bridgewater that has some clutch genes. However, he'll be the starting QB next year. If he sucks, then its Arch Manning time.

That win at the giants was worth it though right...right?

I am really liking McCord on day 3.  How about you?  Rouke, Leonard and Howard would be okay late flier picks too.  Again, McCord is my favorite of the bunch though.

He has tools (size, arm and quick release), his negatives being more coachable stuff (decision making and inconsistent footwork).

I’ve been most impressed with the accuracy this year- his placement has been just really darn good at times. Shows why OSU recruited him. What he doesn’t have, and can’t gain, is the mobility/athleticism you want to see, but he’s not as statuesque as a Trask or O’Connell. He can fight for yards when he needs to.

Definitely a mid rounder to consider.

They’re not, but can’t have it both ways and not be able to admit you may be wrong too

Bryce is what, 4-22 as a starter? Improved recent play aside, it's not groundbreaking to say "he might not be the answer"

He may not be but it’s sure as hell hard to tell when the club is a dumpster fire. It makes me remember how bad Baker and Darnold looked here.

Never had an issue with doing that. Acknowledged that Bryce was playing better as of late. But today was Bryce of old. I just don't think he has the talent to hack it as a starter in the NFL. He's just too limited. There's only so much you can do schematically to cover for the deficiencies.

    • Sorry for your loss.    You didn’t miss much today. The line was off, so Chuba was ineffective. We don’t stand a chance with an ineffective Chuba.
    • I know everyone is flipping their shiznit about Bryce but I have no more thoughts to think about him and I don't really care what other people say at this point either. But can we talk about how bad our run game is? As bad as our passing game is, our running game isn't much better, and honestly an argument could be made that it's worse.  Hubbard averages under 3.5 yards a carry over the last four games. we shelled out money to pay him and miles sanders and used a high draft pick on Brooks and paid a highly for two guards and we still suck at running the ball. 23rd in the league, but worse over the last month.  I don't think Bryce is the answer, but to be fair to him, I don't see many young quarterbacks winning a game when they get sacked six times and their their starting running back runs for 32 yards.  How do we fix the run game? I personally don't want us to invest more in running backs but we won't be getting better with or without Bryce with this run game being what it is. I don't think the run game can go ignored this offseason but how do we make it better without throwing more resources at a problem when we are already spending a lot on that position.
    • Sorry for your loss brother. There isn't much to say, we basically looked as bad as we looked at the start of the season. Couldn't tackle for poo on defense. Getting pushed around on offense and missing throws and dropping passes.
